Well this is the result after updating to the latest-still thinks that the optical output has something plugged in and refuses to recognise anything being plugged in.

Here are the scores for the q6600 at 3GHz,  awesome ~24% higher scores with 25% increase in speed :)

I still can't believe those pins are one the very edge of the chip, there is no way I could have covered these if they weren't :P Glad I didn't have to use the conductive pen to connect any pins, not sure if I would have been up for that (plus I don't have the supplies). I figured this was reversible if it didn't work so why not?

you need a screenshot with cpu and gpuz to get on the spreadsheet, so if you feel like running them again remember to take some.

Does this work?

post-281572-0-67097100-1452231406_thumb.

My dad's busy with the laptop right now so I'll have to get that later; also I'm not sure if I can run CPU-Z and GPU-Z without admin privileges, which I don't have.

Also is there a cinebench equivalent for Lubuntu so I can contribute my laptop's score?  (it has an i3-6100 and a GTX 970M.)  Same question goes for a Fire Strike and Unigine Valley equivalent for both laptops (my dad's, as I've said elsewhere, has XP on a Core 2 Duo T7250 with Intel 965 GMA).

yes i can see the screenshot, you do need admin to run cpu and gpuz. unless that version of cinebench works in exactly the same way on lubuntu then it would not be a fair comparison to put on the spreadsheet however you can post the results if you want.

you that is much better now. you literally got 25% performance from 2 pieces of tape :P

Either way, its getting RMA'd as I got reminded of the 5 year warranty. I'll stick with the H87M for now-and if I got high speed kits of DDR3, it'd be running at 1600 but with tight timings due to the binning.

With Wine the CPU portion part of Cinebench runs the same as it does under Windows. The graphics part however....

You made out better on your impulse buys than me...I just ordered the same 7950 on Tuesday that you helped that guy out with that has the 150W limit in bios

Yeah I was grinning this morning as I read through that thread...150w lol that is the same as my 270!

I've never flashed a GPU bios before so I'll probably ask for some guidance when it arrives :) . If something goes wrong, I should be able to re-flash it with the 270 installed as long as I save the original bios, right?

Yep. It's pretty simple, there's a GUI application or you can use the command line one which is just atiflash -p 0 biosname.rom

If you give me a GPU-Z dump of your original bios I can verify it's the exact same PCB id before you do anything :)

Absolutely, thanks again. It should be here soon, tracking says it is already in Kansas (state bordering Colorado) :)

Shouldn't be long then, one advantage in the UK is our post arrives pretty quick considering you can easily drive the length of the mainland in a day.
