I'm pretty sure I just had an epileptic seizure looking at your avatar. Please consider changing it. Please. I beg you.

It's a workstation laptop. The GPU isn't really optimized for gaming use. If you have a specific use for it, it makes sense depending on price, but it's not something that the average laptop user would get much mileage from imo.

Please change your avatar.

Please, I beg you, consider changing your avatar. If someone around here does have epilepsy, opposing colors cycling through that rapidly could easily cause them to have a seizure. Don't believe me? Google "Pokemon seizures" and look at a YouTube video to see what the colors that caused the seizures were doing.

there's very little to say about laptops like these, they're built for a specific purpose (workstation) and beyond that offer very little bling, the reason linus doesnt review laptops like these is because honestly no one cares. it's like reviewing a loaf of bread, beyond its function of being food there's very little to say about it.

when linus reviews a laptop, its one that offers features that catch the eye, and are more radical and renewing than "its the new model of last year's model, its got refreshed guts, thats about it. talking about last year's model.. LYNDA!"

i guess you get the point :P

eh, mobile workstations are basically laptops that work

and thats it

they have a few features extra, like a quaddro. but its not nessesary for the work done on a laptop

Why bother reviewing ThinkPads though?

The ThinkPad is a historically well regarded brand of laptops from Lenovo (now IBM) designed for workstation and professional use. They're ubiquitous and used by many people in tech, and that's just a fraction of its userbase. People buying them already know what they're getting into and don't really need reviews at this point, as they've basically proven themselves over the 25 years they have existed to be well built and in some cases top of the line.

There's also the fact that it's just not pleasant to have in your eyesight.
Legit, it's making me get a headache, and I don't even suffer from epilepsy.

@aisle9 Maybe as a workstation or business grade laptop.

What is so special about it?

And these laptops cost a lot of money which is pointeless for them to spend on a review of a product really has an extremely limited market and no one will/should buy one for just regular consumer use.

They usually do reviews on laptops that have something special about them like dual 980s, a desktop i7, slim laptops with a lot of power, or the macbooks which are passively cooled

Why? Its workstation laptop, not even just business laptop as normal business user wouldn't need i7/xeon or Quatro GPU. They would need long battery life, light weight and fast boot time (SSD+8gb ram).

As for what laptops they usually review. Those are usually send to them by manufacturers. Thats why its mainly Dells, Razer, Asus and MSI. Companies they work with on other fronts too. Reviewing that might mean that they need to buy it and then find more elaborate ways to benchmark it. As I wouldn't trust gaming benchmarks when looking for 3D rendering capable laptop.
