Ram @ 2133 and i7-4770

@Dravic Ask anyone on the forum. Why would you need a Xeon with that hardware. I would recommend a Xeon for heavy rendering, encoding and ray tracing. We should close this thread its getting out of hand. I'm sick of discussing something where Dravic doesn't know a shit about.

It's Xeon in the name so it must be different but you never even looked at the thread i linked, and i ask you to do that for freakin third time. It's a freakin i7, i even linked to intel ark database and they have everything the same. you dont trust intel database? everybody at mind would never buy i7 4770 if there's a cheaper i7 that doesnt have unnecessary iGPU.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

If I were you, I would downclock your ram to 1866mhz and get the tightest timings possible. From a recent Linustech video, 1866mhz cas9 was the best choice for the proverbial sweet spot. Massive frequencies are only really good if you have an APU or something else very niche. It's mostly synthetic benchmarks otherwise.

You clearly never read anything about Xeons that is based on facts... Xeon e5 is workstation, and even that is as good as gaming as everything else that is x86 but those are usually eight cores and very expensive and a bit lower clocks which is why they arent a good choice for gamers because why the hell would somebody pay so much for a server CPU if you're just gaming? But Xeon e3-1230v3 is actually a cheaper i7 so i dont see any reason why not to get it. Discussed on this forums and i linked, if you dont care to read it i dont care to respect your silly posts.

@Dravic 1)It's not all about iGPU 2) We were talking about a 4670k?

First, 2133mhz RAM is useless, get a good CL9 or CL8 1600MHz and it will be as fast and lower latency. But since you already have the RAM, yes it's compatible without problems.

Second, get Xeon e3-1230v3 (it's exactly Haswell i7 4770 but no iGPU included, not like you would ever use it) - you're gonna save some money. The motherboard you've chosen is great as it will allow you to eventually Crossfire/SLI if you ever wanted and yes it will support the i7/Xeon e3-1230v3.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131981

or if you wanted you could get a cheaper motherboard that wont allow you to SLI/Crossfire but otherwise is as good since you are not overclocking anyway with Xeon e3-1230v3:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130697

Same price but it's i7 and he doesnt overclock anyway. I dont see why would he take i5 over i7 in this case.

So... If Jesus had the gold, would he buy himself out instead of waiting 3 days for the respawn?

But he wanted i7 so why not get i7? it's gonna be better overally than i5.

Because this forum is full of people who know nothing about Intel CPUs. Not even the Intel Response Squad knows anything about their own CPUs but after that thread they finally started to mention Xeon e3-1230 as a viable CPU.

But i7 is better for gaming once your famous 8-core optimisations that will never happen come into life no? I love this forum so many different opinions. Why would somebody get an FX for gaming? Cuz every single AMD fanboy on this forum recommends 8 threads for gaming. But when somebody suggests i7 to a person who wants i7 anyway, then everybody says NOOOOO because it has 8 threads. wut.

I don't own an FX or any AMD products.

No no but it's funny cuz on this forums there's that strange idea that games are going towards more than 4 threads yet a lot of people actually say i7 is BAD for gaming like it was cursed or something when it actually might be helpful very soon and i've shown based on i3 how much hyperthreading can help drive the game if there are more threads supported than physical cores.

I'm curious as to why I was referenced. Was it because of the memory advice cause if so... http://ark.intel.com/products/52210

My i5 2500k "only" supports 1066/1333mhz ram according to the site, but I clearly have my ram at 1866mhz with zero issue.

Unless I am missing something...

Do you realize what you just said?

i7 is bad for gaming in terms of price to performance. It's not better than the i5. Because going from 4 core to 8 cores means nothing for games.

i3 is two cores and with HT on, it's 4 cores. 4 cores! that's why it's better.

I don't think you're understanding logic.

You're missing the fact that RAM over supported controller speeds can be used once you overclock it. LOL. And thats true for all CPUs basically as long as controler can take it.

It supports it at stock, but once you overclock, it would support more iirc. Mine's rated for 1600MHz, but I could go over.

These are my ram's stock settings and it runs regardless if my CPU is overclocked or not.

Then again, I do use a ROG board. :D
