pretty sure GTA V really likes 4 cores, probably as do both others.

i'd suggest looking into an i5 K part in the not-too-far future. (i5 K part because overclocking, and no, i'm not gonna suggest non-k overclocking)

Yup. Not an expert here but I'm guessing similar performance to a G3258 (check some YT vids with the G3258 and R9 380 / GTX 960), with a 1-3 FPS difference.

Correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

the Pentium will hold you back here also get the 480 if its good xD undoubtedly the best value of those cards

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Fallout won't run, Witcher might run, and GTA V should run.

Yeah, I know, but there are vids of OC'd G3258 with the 960 or 380 compared to i5's, i7's etc.

That Pentium is really gonna hold you back, try getting a i5 4690k thats a really good one for gaming and I think its only about $200?  Also you won't be getting ultra/high with a 960 or 380 I think.  I don't know about the 480 because it has yet to come out but I'm running a R9 270 and I'm barely hitting 60 at high so think about that.  Also if you can save up a little and wait, think about getting a 1070, should be around $370 as the aftermarket cards come out and the buying frenzy calms down. The 1070 is miles above a 970 or 390x so definitely consider it (future proof kinda too I think).

Wait, you're using integrated graphics right now?  Witcher/GTA/fallout will be unplayable at those settings.  Witcher will probably be unplayable at any settings.

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

i'm hard pressed to believe two RX480s will beat a -whatever the hell they compared it to- in every scenario.

for the price yeah, but they said it was for VR, so im guessing it will just made to be very optimized for VR games

thats the issue i'm poking at here.

every company does this, computer parts, car companies, even supermarkets do it:

they go on stage and boast about their latest and greatest product, and REALLY focus on how it's better than the other thing.. in one scenario. -cheap car brand- can talk about how for the price of their car, you can barely get an engine and 4 floor mats at the competitor, but that competitor may have a better built car, thats maybe not even marketed to the same people.

everything both amd and nvidia (and any other brand in and out of the technology world) say on stage is true, but there *is* that asterisk, there's ALWAYS that asterisk. that's were independant reviews come into place, question offcourse being how independant one should be before they are a truly independant review.

@burnttoastnice what is funny about that?  Keep in mind my definition of playable - the native resolution of your display, at 60 fps (min) and graphics worth looking at (which in those games is probably fine even at minimum)
