hello..from 2 days i was facing a temps problem now i thnk everything is solvd please if u hv refernce card make ur fan 100% in msi afterburn or evga asus etc to keep the card temps low..

What resolution are you running at?

yes, we already know reference cards are not a problem

 

 

you can either increase the temp limit to 87C or increase the fan speed to 80% and it wont throttle

My fan curve which keeps the card cool, no throtling etc. Also quiet

At 100% fan speed it will be loud for a second then silent afterwards because your ear drums pop.

 

Yeah it's too bad really with those reference designs like the 1080, 980ti and even probably RX 480. They all really look very nice but performance/noise is quite bad. Only exception seems to be the Fury X.

Sooo you went from Oven to Oven with a Jet Engine strapped to it?  Good job!. Now can you post a pick where the GPU is above 65% usage? I imagine that using it at 100% would probably run your temps 10-15*C higher than at 60%

My reference card runs 68% at 77c. I could cool it more by bumping the fans up, but at that speed it's quiet enough, as loud as my last 980 and isn't throttling so no problem for me. And that's with +150 on the core too

I'm sure you don't need to have fan at 100% speed to keep temperatures in safe spot.

At 100% fan speed you get around 65°C as we can see. 

Normal users will probbably set fan curve so it will stay below 75-80°C.

You can get that with like 60% fan speed probbably.

And what happens when a more intensive game comes out? Benchmarks are done under the same circumstances else they are invalid. In your case, load is a variable which makes the whole test pointless as it causes different temps each time

It's pretty relative though.  I could see how it could bother some people, especially if they've put effort into making a silent build.  

 

I'm so used to cranking my radiator fans all the way up that this wouldn't really bother me.  I'm not really a sweet spot kind of guy, I'm more of a turn everything to 11 kind of guy.
