What's your audio setup?

APasz

Along the same vein as my last topic post; What is your audio setup? Do you have a full on hi-fi setup? High end surround sound? or a crappy $5 set from Kmart/Walmart?

Two old speakers from I have no idea, they actually sound pretty decent.

Up until last week I used my +8 year old Dell Speakers lol. Worked fine for me since I'm not a big audiophile and hear little difference in gaming or movies.

For music I use those $20 Sony headphones and $15 ear buds :3

When I move to my new apartment I still plan to go cheap with some $20-50 logitech speakers (w/e is on sale)

My main speakers are some '5.1 surround sound' system I won in a college poker tournament (2005 I think?) that somehow still work and sound surprisingly decent. I also have an Arion 2.1 speaker system, Monoprice DJ-style headphones, and a set of Technics RP-DH1200's. And I use a Tascam dr07mkII audio recorder as a mic.

It's like hearning angles sing live in my living room.

Honestly, they are really good. Especially for the price.

Personally, I find them to be a bit ´sharp´ in their sound, but my Citation V smooths it out pretty nicely.

PC -

Dali Zensor 1 speakers

Audioengine N22 Amp

AKG K550 'phones

Music -

Dali Zensor 3

Marantz CR-603 (streaming / web radio / CD)

Plex server (for FLAC files) with Bubble UPnP (android control app). Works like a charm.

Other -

Raspberry Pi with Volumio & cheap USB DAC = tiny FLAC-streaming music player for the kitchen.

Still deciding on speaker options to go with this one.

In the long term, I'm considering a move towards something like PMC or ProAc floor-standers for the main system and possibly an amp/system upgrade to match.

It is really nice. The only problem is connecting modern cables to it, bui it can be done.

I still don't understand why people are paying so much for them though. It's a good amp, but it's not a $1000 amp.

I also have a small child running around, so having warm as hell tubes in child height is not really a good idea either.

You could just send it to me then xD I kinda want to get a tube amp for my headphones maybe with a preamp so I can connect  my active speakers to it xD

My setup as of now:

setup_zps8oouxvri.jpg

As I have two PC's, one on the left and the other on the right, I need basically two DAC's, one with preamp function and RCA inputs -

Oppo HA-1 (hooked up to the PC on the left via USB, acts as headphone DAC/amp and preamp)

Fostex HPA4 (hooked up to PC on right via USB, acts as headphone amp, with RCA out to my Oppo HA-1)

Gear in pic above -

KRK Rokit5 G3

Sennheiser HD800

HiFiMan HE1000

AKG K812

Not in pic -

HiFiMan HE560 (SMC sockets, actually in pic but can only see one of its SMC plugs (in red) at bottom left of pic)

HiFiMan HE-4 with Focus Pads

Grado GS1000i

Grado PS1000

MrSpeakers Alpha Dog

Denon AH-D7000 (modded with HiFiMan SMC sockets) with Lawton Angle Pads

Denon AH-D2000 (modded like the D7000) with stock D7000 pads

Fostex T50RP (Alpha Pads, modded with MayFlower mod kit)

Audio Technica ATH-A900X LTD

Beyerdynamic DT990 Premium 600Ohm

PSB M4U2

Portable stuff -

Tube Amp BL2 + Fiio X3 II

HiFiMan HM901s (in pic) with Discrete amp card

CampFire Audio Jupiter (in pic) + ALO SXC 24 cable (got it used and cheap!)

Fitear Parterre

Sennheiser IE800

Aurisonics ASG1+

As I intend to keep the HD800 permanently (like the K812 and HEK) I plan to spray paint the HD800 to a different color and apply the SuperDupont mod......that is, when I feel like it.....which I don't at the moment. Yes, been in a lazy rut as of late.:P

GamerDude knocks my rig out of the park; but my audio setup up is USB to a Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 preamp which outputs to two Tannoy studio monitors. I mainly do audio production and I often use them during gaming. Better sound, better experience through almost everything I do on my computer. Cheers!
