If you have windows 10 and common sence, you don't need any anti virus

The only thing I suggest is a malwarebytes scan every now and then

I have Panda Antivirus Pro. I find Panda really good and it is an Anti-Virus and Anti-Malware according to tests. And it has many features to like firewall etc, if you want. I only use Windows Firewall, thats enough for the most.

As long as you are a human, you don't need anti-virus software, just use your brain. Modern OS (windows 8-10) have good and stable security updated, so you don't have to worry about security much.

Anyways, simple NAT is a must-have thing for everyone.

These days with modern operating systems and integrated security, av doesn't seem to be so essential as it used to, but in my opinion it's not a waste of money either.

If you're concern but don't have much money or don't want to spend it, there are lots of great av for free. If you care enough to pay for it, go ahead, nothing can go wrong.

Guys, Please don't use AVG. As someone who works on other peoples computers all the time (especially the elderly) I see AVG quite a lot. Instead of acting as an antivirus software, It behaves as a piece of adware itself and does little to nothing as far as protecting computers. Malwarebytes is good and avast will get the job done, just please don't use AVG

Its automatic, just press this button!

Bit Defender is the most reliable on my end. I have used MalwareBytes, Avast, and Norton. Norton is terrible and I will never give it a second chance. Avast is very good along with MalwareBytes. If you are just trying to block against small little viruses you might encounter, these are great options. Bit Defender is for me because I test all sorts of stuff on my computer. Plus the fact that I deal with rats a lot. I would recommend switching to MalwareBytes or Avast for you. If you need that extra boost of security, continue paying for Bit Defender.

I haven't ran any sort of Anti-Virus in a decade. Just don't have flash and Java set to auto-execute and you'll be fine.

You know as well as I that definition best Anti-Virus is dead, the best AV is common sense.

Don't be stupid, AV is pointless unless you are functionally and/or mentally retarded.

Exactly AV is pointless and a waste of resources/money, it's pretty obvious that milf-time.exe isn't porn.

Don't use either, definition based AV is dead and pointless.

In actuality there isn't a single AV product on the market that really does anything.

Your best option is to use common sense.

if you havent run any antivirus for a decade then of course you will have no idea if you have a virus or not lol

you think viruses have a big pop up warning sign or something to let you know theyre there??

nope

and btw any program can install an automatic update that is a virus

but hey if you like to take risks then go ahead, you probably have a virus on your PC already and you dont even know it xD

If you think .exe is the only way a virus or a piece of malware can affect your pc, you should really be careful surfing the internet.

Exactly, but some folk on this forum swear by using AV. I don't understand how someone with as many posts as Enderman could swear by it.

I question some of mass posters on this forum, many just seem to spew nonsense.

You know that not everyone is a techy and may not have any common sense when it comes to PCs?

Also even if they only protect against 50% its still worth it for a light weight free application to help along should click the wrong thing or do something stupid

I will run multiple scanners and see if anything shows, this is a 6 month old install..

I bet that I won't either, I have a tendency to run the Malware Bytes scan for lols, and it has never found anything.

I also have a tendency to monitor active processes on my system.

Again AV is pointless, and if you think it's necessary you are ignorant.

I have a subscription with McAfee, and I give it a lot of freedom to do its thing whenever its working.

Unfortunatly, I'm also paranoid and psychotic, like, I actually use the shredder and archiver functions that come with the complete McAfee suite.

If you were paranoid you wouldn't use a AV, they take samples of files on your system and upload them to their servers.

antimalware is not an antivirus

monitoring active processes tells you absolutely nothing, you dont even know what each process is

how are you going to know if LDSvc is a virus or not? do you google all of your 150 processes to check if each one is a virus? lol you're hilarious

the fact that you're naive enough to believe you dont need an antivirus just shows how inexperienced you are and how little you understand about how viruses work

but it seems like the only thing you know how to do is call people ignorant, so maybe next time you get a virus try calling it ignorant too and see if it goes away

oh wait, you wont know when you get a virus because you dont use an antivirus!

oh well, thats too bad
