I have an AMD A4-7300 with a gtx 950 and Minecraft runs 90-110fps plus. This APU is not the best. So your pick on CPU will be good for a while.

no, it's horrible all of intel is horrible for minecraft, they'll push so much power into your game your bricks will explode and the monsters will cross over into reality

Then an i5 sounds about right, GTA V can be pretty demanding

You can run Minecraft at Ultra settings with Hairworks on that chip.

Just make sure you have at least 1gb of vram, lol.

I had a Pentium G3258 OCed to 3.8GHz for a while until I upgraded to an i5-4590. It (the Pentium) got 60+ FPS on highest settings with Optfine (16 chunks render distance).

What GPU do you have? I get more than 60 on a 4790k...

No OP, you don't need more than 4 cores for Minecraft. An i5 is a great choice.

Like I said, my 4790k and 970 get much better than that... so... I guess we need to go through your MC settings and mods.

Unless you have an idea as to what the issue is.
