Dear Nvidia....

This is just an example. Since most PC-related manufacturers tend to not have very good product design teams, it's hard to find a GPU that doesn't look at least a little shitty. Let me put it this way: look at this

and this

and tell me which looks more elegant and well-designed. I find that most of these companies seem to think that the more their product looks like a sports car, the more we'll buy it. And frankly, it's pissing me off.

alien ware computers in general look retarded

as posted here already, there are other pictures of the shroud. I agree that it is still to be treated as a rumor, but there's a high chance that it's real.

I don't know about the others, but this one is clearly photoshopped. You can see the blue paint right above the card. Whoever did it is bad at his job or is a troll.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I normally love angular designs, but this just seems like a mess of weird angles and random vents.

That looks exactly like an XFX card. I like the new reference cooler.

I like to kill hardware. In 2016 alone I have killed 20 Xeon 5160, and 10+ Pentium 4.

It is an XFX card. They may not be the best manufacturer, but their design is mostly sleek and elegant.

It looks nice, but I like the second one.

Even though it's hideous, this is getting me hyped for the new line. The 1070 will be mine soon!

Yeah, me too. I'll wait and see how polaris turns out, if it's not as good I'll be getting me a 1080. Definitely not with the reference cooler though.

I'll never have a stock cooler on my gpu anyway - either i'll install an aftermarket or do a custom loop on my next build so this in no way effects me.

The old reference cooler was a timeless design. Will be sad to see it go.

Really? What is the fuss all about with the reference cooler? AIB partners does not use the cooler they use their own design. Or if water cooling who cares what cooler the card comes with.

the new design looks better than the old one which was based off of the 690/Titan Z cooler with just the fan moved... What do the 770, 780, 780Ti, Titan X, 970, 980, 980ti (did I miss any?) have in common? the same friggin reference cooler! I think it's a step forward not back

it really doesnt matter what it looks like, most people buy aftermarket coolers anyways. If the refrence card looks like shit, it will be more reason to by an EVGA or MSI.w

If it actually does end up looking like that, I... I have no idea what I'll think of Nvidia anymore...

The current reference design is great because it looks like a computer component. If you plug it into a motherboard, it doesn't look out of place. It looks professional, unobtrusive, clean, functional, and reserved. That new one though? It looks like a toy.

Sure, there'll be aftermarket coolers, you don't have to buy the reference card, but... What about the Titan?

"Do as I say, not as I do."

Everyone is saying "reference coolers suck", based on the previous, hotter running hardware. We don't yet know just how efficient the 1070/1080 will be, but I would put money on it that they will be more efficient than the current 970/980's, thus the reference coolers will be totally fine. ;)

We're saying it looks bad, not that it'll run hot.

Some people were saying "who buys reference cards anyways" in the context of they don't cool as well as AIB designed coolers. ;)

There's another thread on this in the news section with a lot more comments.

I vote @LinusTech gets a preview sample one if they do indeed use that cooler design, remove the cooler, and for the justice of the internet, smash it with a hammer, and proceed to fit something suitable with modern design.

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.
