Ultimate Cooling Machine -- Heavily Modified TJ07 [Not 56k friendly]

deafboy

Hey Guys,

Been asked to post this over here so I figured why not.  So this build has been in the works for just under a year.  After all said and done things could have been started and finished in under a week but there was certainly a lot of trial and error over the year, that in conjunction with taking my time and keeping busy with school it took longer than expected.  The past two months of the build were pretty much me waiting on people (welders/powder-coaters/etc) to get their part done

[introduction and plan]
This was essentially my dream build and decided to treat it as such, although the GPUs will likely be upgraded in the spring.

The TJ07 has been around for a long time and is certainly showing it's age and I love the case enough but want a refresh. I plan on replacing and modifying 100% of the panels while maintaining the same essence of the TJ07. Primary upgrades:
8-slot I/O panel to support quad GPUs
Create better fitting doors and panels
Support for 8.120 Rad space
Keep it a classy, quiet, and high performing machine.

This machine is an all around work-horse (programming, folding, gaming, multimedia, and of course the interwebs)

The bottom section of the case houses the AX1200i, pump, EX480 and EX120.
Up front is an EX360, reservoir, and fan controller.

In addition to being heavily watercooled, hard pipe has been used with copper tubing, although it's been painted to fit the look of the build

[current parts list]
-Silverstone TJ07
-ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
-Intel 3930k @4.8-5.2GHz
-Corsair Dominator Platinum 1866

-XSPC Raystorm CPU Waterblock
-2x XSPC GTX680 v2 Waterblocks
-XSPC EX480 Radiator

-XSPC EX120 Radiator
-Lamptron FC-5V2 Fan Controller
-Scythe S-Flex F 120mm Fans (Until I find something better)
-copper tubing
-push fittings
-a bunch of aluminum sheeting for fabrication

Not really a huge fan of the name, but it is what it is now... although I'll likely go phase at some point, lol.

I am not going to copy the entire build log here, figured I'd at least show you guys the semi-final result though.  If you want to check out the entire build log please check it out here:

why windows 8?? and 1400+mhz on both 670's? that's hard to believe lol whats ur temps or is that just for benching..

I like Windows 8... I never touch metro so it's been a nice bump.

The temps are generally in the 50s under load at 1400+, but I've seen it in the 60s when I did a long session of intense loads.  I generally just leave the clocks lower though since I only game on the single monitor, have yet to find anything that I play that requires more of an overclock.

The top card on stock volts did 1350 and the bottom one did 1325.  Flashed the bios to up the voltage and am perfectly stable at 1400+ on both of them with the bump.  Honestly though, it's almost pointless.  The performance increase from 1325-1350 to 1400 is pretty much nonexistant outside of benches.  I went to 1420 or so on the top card during benches and was disappointed by the gains so I dropped it back down.  The added volts certainly bump the temps and power usage.

That's so freaking sexy  :o

Thanks

Thank you

THAT CASELABS ! Any information about it?  :)

Friends build that I was holding onto while he was away

any build log about the caselab?

There is one over on OCN but it's pretty much an endless pit.  It's going to be shipped across country soon and will get a pedestal and stuff thrown onto it.  Constant never ending project.

There is an SR-2, Lepa 1600, bunch of water cooling gear, chillers, and soon to be some 9000 series GPUs

Haha, true that. Last time I checked it was well over 5000 posts long. Good thing

there's a table of contents, otherwise that log would just be completely unreadable.

Ontopic: Good to see this here. IIRC I gave a vote for MOTM for this baby. :)

looks amazing dude! some neat metal work going on here

Thanks :)

Thats amazing! I've always wanted to do a build with that case but I don't have time and craftsmanship.

Thanks, and you can definitely do it just have to spread out your time.  I didn't have much time, that partially why it took me as long as it did.

Haha, yeah, it's pretty much impossible to follow over there.  Always something changing.  And thank you :)

I want to upgrade to win8 sometime soon but 7 works great so far. Only reason is cos of DirectX11.2 hate the lack of Aero on win8 but I think there are mods for that. Sigh* already installed 7 on my 840 Pro lol

Honestly, there isn't much of a reason to upgrade, it's certainly lighter and there are some nice new features but nothing mind blowing.

very nice build :)

Thank you :)
