Antivirus Needed? If so which one is considered "the best"?

Avast is considered the "best free antivirus" as far as I know.

I and my siblings use it since 2010, and no problems so far.

For full time antivirus i used bitdefender (free edition) and for on demand scans i use malwarebytes.

Avast is the best ''free'', meaning that there is a free trial version that you can have forever. It's the best, at least by my experience. just remember to get a malware program as well since avast only protects against virus, not malware.

I use 360 Total Security.

It's somewhat non intrusive. (Block webcam from being used unless approved and stuff like that) but it does a good job of getting to the viruses.

Also no problems at all.

I run nothing but Windows defender. I've been doing it for over a year and have had no issues. Use your brain and maybe AdBlock or uBlock Origin and you are ok. Most antivirus seem to interfear with Windows and slow the system down. Windows defender does none of that.

Same for me. Just don't click on dumb stuff, download/install sketchy software, and generally use your brain when you're browsing the interwebs and you should be fine.

Avast, malwarebytes install these two.  nuff said, if avast notifications bother you (still better notifications than other AVs out there) set it to silent/ gaming mode

It's not a trial. You'll have to register the free program, just like the paid ones. This is something they have been doing for a long time. The process and renewal is exactly the same as a paid antivirus, but without the payment.
