Any way to give laptop's internet to phone?

Aytex

My phone has been kicked off my schools wifi for a while (idk if its just the device because if I switch devices it lets me log in) Is there a way to tether my laptop's wifi to my phone

Possibly usb wire?

(side note other people's phones allow to be connected except mine so...)

I don't really know if there's a solution with a wire but Bluetoth should work. There's a protocol which is definitely supported by Android where your phones internet can go over to your laptop so I really don't see a reason why this can't work the other way round. You might need an app but it wouldn't require a root or anything.

A WiFi hotspot wouldn't work because I think it'd take over your PC's WiFi so you wouldn't be able to connect to your school's network in the first place.

Then how on earth were you hoping to do this? There's no solution if you've got no admin rights; you can't install programs or change the settings you need.

The best way is to go to IT and ask why they blocked your device.

If the laptop is able to connect to the internet through the Wifi, you can make an ad-hoc connection and broadcast it to your phone. Basically you are just making your own Wifi AD which your phone will connect to. [It's been years since I've done this myself and I'm no longer sure if it'll still allow you to connect and broadcast at the same time but it's likely to work].

I have seen people using ethernet cable and microUSB-USB-Ethernet adapters to get internet on their smartphone.
