CableMod good/trustworthy?

VagabondWraith

I ordered a set of Cablemod ModMesh for the C-Series of Corsair's power supplies. Specifically, for my Corsair RM1000X. They did well on integrating the in-line resistors that the stock Corsair cables have integrated. Not as elegantly, but, decently enough and far enough back on the cable where it should be hidden inside your PC case. Funny enough, I can't seem to find Cablemod's "gray" available anywhere else, so, perhaps this was a limited run or some what of a special edition cable set they produce for the power supple. Mixed black, white, and gray. Their silver is different from the gray, as far as I believe. Here's some pictures, I can get you more if you'd like. I'm using Nanoxia's CoolForce cable-combs also.

I have more pictures also, if you're interested in seeing more.

I strongly advise against cablemod. Just recently received my full modular cable set for Antec Platinum 1300W.

It looks very cheap, cables are thin and in some cases sleeved bad, very bad. It seems like poor chinese manufacture for high price.

I do not recommend!

I was looking on CableMod.com at their selection and found a set of red cables I like for $100 bucks. The Seasonic cables are high quality but not visually appealing.

I'm wondering if anybody shopped there before and what you think. Is it high quality cables? I don't want to spend a large amount of money if I get the cables and they're flimsy and cheap.

I appreciate the answers.

There ok for your average user, there very thin (I believe they only have an OD of 2mm with Sleeving). My wiring alone starts at 2mm to 2.4mm with Sleeving is around 4 to 6mm on top of that.

I suggest getting your cables hand made. Places like Mod-One does that with MDPC-X sleeving. Which will always be superior to mass produced items. Plus I don't like how they crimp the sleeving directly onto the terminal. It should be burned/melted onto it for better hold.

@Revan654 we advertise our ModFlex (2.7mm) as thinner because this is more focused on small form factor builds primarily, our ModMesh (3.1mm) is our thicker option currently, with another even thicker option coming in around a month now. :)

are you sure about that? I do have some of your modmesh. When I tried to put those cables into CableCombs (Which were designed for exactly 3mm). The cable Comb were sliding all over the place.

May be a bit hard to see but you can see there is a gap between the cable to comb.

After doing allot of my own cables, I don't envy you when you have to do Molex & Sata cables(Non- dual version 3+ connectors on a single cable). Those are a giant PIA specially when you have to daisy chain them.

@Revan654 sure you could do that too. :)

Ok, I sent the E-mail to them. I assume there in China since all my answers usually come in at 3am EST. Might not get a reply until Monday (Not sure if they work weekends or not).

Granted this thread is quite old. It still pops up as damn near close to number one on the search results.

I'm not sure this was supposed to come directly to me, or to a repack facility.

Granted they are custom length single headed SATA cables. One for my H150i RGB Pro and the other to power a stock SP120 rgb fan controller. I had the open SATA module ports on my PSU.

But rather than be excited about my cool product that's gonna fulfill my wanted outcome. It's quite the opposite. I'll leave this here for public viewing.

You choose how to feel about it, know the facts though.

If you notice it's exactly one tenth of the price you paid, I'd imagine this is done the same reason as Chinese eBay sellers always have prices listed way low, to get around import taxes for buyers. I can't comment on the legitimacy of the person you bought from (since I bought AliExpress cables) but I can say that it's most usually not cause for alarm to see something like that.
