What is Better - DirectX 11/12 or Mantle?

I see this option in games such as BF4, Thief etc as I have an AMD GPU I assume.

 

I heard Mantle is an AMD technology, but in reality in terms of performace which is better for my R9 390?

 

I see a lot of bugs and even low FPS when I have Mantle on, but this could be part of the placebo effect thing.

Does that still exist?  Hm, I thought it evolved into/was killed by DX12 and Vulkan...

Vulkan API is better then all

Mantle is dead and has been absorbed into DX12 and Vulkan.

Mantel was amazing technology, AMD fucked up really badly not pushing it harder, it would have prevented Nvidia injecting gameworks into a mantel version of a game.

 

In BF4 Mantel is a little smoother for me, despite the fps being roughly the same as DX11

 

In Thief Mantel destroys DX11 on my rig..

 

Mantel is still around it's the foundation of AMD's liquid VR.

6 and two 3's... Mantle was good but AMD decided to be stupid and sell it off. Now its gone. DX12 is what Mantle is supposed to be however so far I have only seen slight improvements from people using DX 12 vs 11... Mantles improvements have been far greater than DX12's have so far. And DX 11 is just horrible and old now, needs to be replaced with DX12 or Vulkan... Hopefully Vulkan as DX12 seems to be going nowhere from what i've seen so far.

 

Again DX12 is still new but even so Mantle while it was new was better in its early stages vs DX12.

For everyone saying Mantle is dead, it isn't, it powers Vulkan, and is essentially what we now call LiquidVR, with some adjustments of course. For actual performance I can't say anything about Vulkan, but for DX12 and Mantle when there are less cores DX12 performs better, but when benched with quad, hexa and octa core CPUs Mantle performed better.

It's a low level API, which is what Vulkan and Dx12 are doing. 

But neither of those have any active titles yet. Ashes of singularity can use dx12, but that's still early access.

GoWUE uses DX12 (but is atrocious), I think Hitman released a few days a go, RotTR uses DX12, and AotS release very soon.
