980 ti/ 980 prices after Pascal launch

I'm planning to get a better video card when Pascal comes out but I'm going to go for best performance within my budget and not so much worried about if it's Pascal or Maxwell. If a 980 or 980 ti came down to within my budget and it was better performing than a similarly priced Pascal part I'd probably go with a discounted 980 or 980 ti. When a new range of GPU's is released is it possible to get big discounts on the previous range of GPU's? Thanks

you might be able to catch a deal on a used 980ti...people will want to get 400$ back on them to upgrade to pascal...but like the other said, retail price for new in box cards will not go down by much, if anything.

Look at 780tis. They were $700 now people want $350-$400. So about that

the only thing I would suggest is. As soon as the new GPU's drop get online and search hard as some companies will technically want to shift ' Old Stock ' and I use this term very loosely. You maybe might pick up a bargain then again you may not.

At the end of the day you have nothing to lose and everything to gain who knows you maybe able to snag a 980ti on the cheap if the fan boys have to have the new gpu on day 1 lol

The 780 Ti briefly went down in price while on fire sale. I remember in either October or November 2014 Toms Hardware listed the 780 Ti as the best buy for $450. I imagine they went fast though since they were $650 cards when Maxwell launched and the 980 was $550.

If you really want a 980 Ti cheap you're going to have to be ready to buy at a second's notice when it has a price drop at or a little after the Pascal launch, provided the 980 Ti is more powerful than the 1070 or 1700 or whatever in the hell Nvidia's going to call it (otherwise just buy the 1070/1700 or 1080/1800),

Yea I agree. You need to have the money literally sat in your bank ready to pay for it cause if there is a flash sale on them they will be off the shelf in a flash
