Does overclocking an Intel I7 Extreme edition K/X cpu Void the warranty?

I have been wandering about this for a long time since 2 days ago

No lol.

You can literally buy a CPU, fry it and send it in for RMA, 9 times out of 10 they will replace it.

Yes, but as long as you dont do it to the point where you are pushing 1.5v 24/7 they probably cant tell.

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

I've personally seen people delid CPU's, scratch the die, reseal them, and get a successful RMA. If they can get an RMA after that, surely overclocking will not void a warranty. If you are truly worried about it, just buy one of these things. http://click.intel.com/tuningplan/

Well if the voltage is high enough to start frying everything im assuming they can tell..

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

@Thegamingbarrel had a shitty 4670k that he literally put 1.9v through, bottom of the pads and crap were scorched looking, and they still accepted his RMA.  I know 4 people that have absolutely roasted CPU's and had no problems with RMA.

Intel doesn't care. You could say the board did it on adaptive, and they would not even think twice.

As long as you don't put your CPU in a blender, then 9 times out of 10, they are okay with it.

Unless its a highly binned E8500 that you put in a modded socket the wrong way :(

It voids the warranty, but Intel can't tell whether or not you've overclocked it.

The 6700k has been frying its self from no overclocking

some guy made a thread yday his chip hit 100c+ and the ram started failing and the motherboard dosent even post anymore

i bet he can probably get intel to replace all of them parts

Intel bins their K series chips so that they can withstand overclocking demands so they can withstand a proper overclock without issue. Intel's failure rate is minuscule (except for a friend of mine that ended up with a dead 4650, I told him to buy a lottery ticket with those odds) so those binned chips will be fine with even extreme overclocking circumstances.

$25 and I could fry my rather meh 4790K and get a replacement (4.6V and the voltage is barely safe)?

The Plan provides a one-time replacement: (i) only applicable to the replacement of Eligible Processors and (ii) only when the Plan is purchased within one (1) year of the purchase of the Eligible Processor.

If you owned it for longer than a year, then sorry, that plan won't work. However (like others have said) you could just fry it and see if they replace it anyways. Have seen far more successful RMA's than the other way around.
