Nissan shows of self parking....chairs

As you may figured it is a promotional project to showcase their "Intelligent Parking Assistent" as they outline in their making off video linked below.

 

 

 

 

 

Given the size of the sensors and PCB  I am curious if they might be able to fit it in a self parking vacuum robot which would then be capable of running completely autonomous ( starting at given time, after the job is done going back in the closet).

Be great for when people 'borrow' a chair at work and it never returns. It can start returning it self!

OMG. The pranking possibilities are endless with this!!!!

 

Modifies chair parking location to choose random spot every time...

When parking, chair spins around endlessly...

Change the "Park" location to the Bosses (or coworkers) cellphone or other device so chairs all go after them...

Park all chairs in front of a different door or entrance-way every few minutes....

Put several different sounds in the system to tell the chairs to park and then automatically randomly switch the sound every time one is used....

Different combinations of the above, All, or others....

Is it really necessary to have this?  I mean, it doesn't take much energy to push in your chair...  How lazy is our world...

Yeah, since most human beings are incapable of pushing in their chairs after using them this should be a killer money maker.

Could be more of a showcase that the tech exists -- and could be used elsewhere for better uses? Say, for example, self-parking stretchers in hospitals that can drive patients from room-to-room without the need for people to move them, making it infinitely more efficient.

That would be cool, but there is an issue.  Nurses have to be by the side to make sure the patient is OK.... seems to me that wouldn't work.
