980ti bottleneck

Matt_Twinkletoes

Will a single 980ti be bottlenecked by a i5 4440 on 1080p? Also what would be the best 980ti to get

Honestly, depends on your game. The i5-4460 and i5-4440 have a good kick in them.

I want to say it won't bottleneck, but let me research that for you real quick, curious myself.
I know it won't bottleneck a GTX 980

Also, get an EVGA GTX 980TI FTW Edition.

MSI Gaming 6G/EVGA FTW+ are great.

Yes, in some games the i5 will bottleneck quite a bit. Rise of the Tomb Raider would be a great example of that.

It will bottleneck in the sense that a stronger CPU will give you more performance, but not in the sense that it will tank your performance to very low levels.

*cough* For 1080p gaming? Don't waste your money on a 980TI for 1080p gaming.

Get a 980. No need for the extra $200 bucks.

For 1080p you do not need a 980ti.

@Slick said tomb raider really doesn't scale with anything other than gpus?

My FX-8350 gets to 100% of usage sometimes during gameplay (across all cores), and it's quite a bit more powerful if its used in its full potential so you'd have a very bad time playing that game with a 980Ti. But that was only an example, Witcher 3 in Novigrad would bottleneck too, Crysis 3 as well

a GTX 980 is capable of running almost any game at 1080p 60Hz. I cannot think of anything that wouldnt be.

Grab a 980, and spend the difference on a 4690k and solve both issues. :D

Unless the game tries to use more than 4 threads, no. Also stay away from the Gigabyte Windforce+G1, the coolers are very loud and Gigabyte support sucks, as mentioned before go with EVGA for your 980ti.

Shouldnt, but some games (GTA V for example) may.

An R9 390x is the same price and is roughly equal in performance, with twice the RAM.
