Downgrading and paying for it a lot more is very silly idea but its your money, do what you want with it.

No.

wait, let me try again: HELL NO. If you really want mac os, make a hackintosh, but selling your computer for a much less powerful and much more expensive one doesn't make any sense. If anything, if you don't use the 980 sell that and use the money to buy a fast ssd and a very nice monitor.

Changing his motherboard would cost way less than buying a mac...

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

I'm with most everyone else here. Do what you want with your money, but spending more for something that can't touch the performance of what you have... That seems a little bat-shit insane to me.

What's wrong with your current PC?

Do you even got an idea about differences between MAC and usual PCs? I don't wanna offend you but it doesn't look like.

1) If you're going to play games, you can't use any kind of mac. Even a $3.000 Macbook Pro won't let you play by far as good as you can with a usual Windows PC.

If you don't game anymore then there is a second single question:

2) Do you work as picture/video-editior? Yes: buy a mac.

If no, then well ... buy it if you like to throw your money away.

All Apple-Products are desinged for business thoughts. YES EVEN THE iPhone...

Answering those two question will help you deciding for every single apple-product. One exception, if you wanna go for an apple-watch, then the second questions should be: Are you an real business-man and probably an workoholic?

No your PC will out perform a mac, sorry but it's true.

Get an SSD and look into creating a hackintosh, if the parts you have won't allow you to run a hackintosh then selling your parts and replacing them with ones that will, will save you a lot of money and again, out perform a mac for a bit of time and effort.

Also, my gf just switched from Mac to PC, she loves PC after being on mac's for most of her life.

Make a hackintosh .

That way , you keep the power , don't pay more.

If you want to , get a 950 pro , intel 750 ssd or a regualr ssd.

That is wrong on so many levels.

1) You CAN game on a mac. For example, I have a 5K iMac with a r9 m395x, it runs games just fine at QHD. And when I'm not gaming, I get the benefit of a 5k Monitor for crispy crispy text. Also, 3000 macbook pro? You get a r9 370x, that runs games just fine...

2). For video and photo work, most people will use the adobe suite, in such cases a windows machine will give you WAY better performance than you can on mac os x, because mac os x uses open GL and it's like nobody likes optimizing for open GL.

There are many things to consider and performance isn't the only important factor. An All in one PC will save space and give you a cleaner setup than even the tidiest of cable managed tower monitor setups. And Windows AIO frankly are all ugly, except samsung.

And on the notebook side, there are only a handful of notebooks that have build quality and trackpad comparable to that of a macbook pro, those notebooks are the Dell XPS 15, and the Samsung Ativ Book 9 Pro. Everything else, asus or not, you either get way too thick, or the build quality isn't as good. People keep suggesting UX303 or something, but the build quality falls behind the macbook, even if its pretty good for a windows pc.

Of course you can, but are all the games available on Mac? That's the issue.

Can confirm, you can game on a mac.

PC and mac aren't so different these days. One is very locked down, the other isn't.

Probably a good Idea... My MacBook Pro takes <10 seconds to boot.... and it's 4 years old...

(also, I bought it brand new at a lower price to an equally-spec'ed PC.)

PCMasterFanBoyz don't understand price/performance or hardware longevity.
