25 years ago this December the World Wide Web launched. We sure have come a long way since the days of 52k modems, Netscape, and AltaVista to connect to, browse, and search. What great things do you suppose we'll see in the next 25?

On a serious note, I think the internet will become more personal, as a useful measure to kill off internet trolls (like me( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)), and to improve development. AI however...

Well, we already have the next WiFi iteration (802.11ad), I think we will see more data caps and throttling on Cable Internet, and more fiber from the likes of Rocket, Google, Level 3 Comms, Zayo Group, and others.

 

Oh yeah, and more assholes thinking by saying "porn" that they are being creative, but in reality they are adding nothing to the conversation.

German internet is still 25 years behind, I hope that they double the bandwidth within the next 25 years so I can watch youtube videos in 480p without bufferstruggles.

I meant it. Porn is a growing industry, and it will only grow larger in the next 25 years. It's become more of a common place thing that everybody does.

 

I could also add that in America Google will soon be the main ISP, since they offer Fiber for a lowish price, and all the other ISP's just give you shitty internet for $75/month.

no thanks ill pass. we're paying 62 euros per month for 120/12 internet and tv (with alot of sports) and the home phone..

Porn may be a growing industry, but it is a "guaranteed" growing industry.

 

Fiber we really don't know the adoption rate, and Comcast/Cox/TWC may be sued with in the next month, forcing them to be banned from implying data caps.

Crazy stuff. We use Fios here (about the fastest internet next to Google Fiber, or else you're paying way too much) for internet and TV. We pay $100/month for 75(down)/60(up) internet.

That's what I'm looking for. We don't know the adoption rate for fiber internet, but I'm sure it's gonna be widespread around the US in 25 years. It'll just take a while for Google to shove the crappy ISP's out of the way.

 

Also, hoorah for getting rid of data caps. I don't have a data cap (thank God, I download a new 50GB game every other month) and I feel really sorry for the people that do.
