That's not really what the missing link is. The "missing link" is not one thing. It is what people call any yet-to-be-discovered fossils for an intermediate step between primitive ape and human in the evolutionary tree. Humans are primates. Humans did not evolve from apes. Humans and modern "apes" share a common ancestor. We're cousins, essentially.

 

Which is why people say "I don't believe in evolution! There's no proof that we evolved from apes!" are massively misinformed (They don't understand how evolution works).
