What genre of game can you just not put down?

What genre of game will keep you playing until 5AM, even though your eyes are bleeding and you have to be up for work in 3 hours?

 

For me it is undoubtedly strategy RPGs. They usually have quick missions and engaging gameplay sprinkled with frequent rewards/upgrades. This makes it really easy to justify doing "just one more mission" 25 times in a row as your life spirals out of control. It's so bad that sometimes I forgo playing these games at all for fear of destroying my ability to function the next day.

RPGs and story driven games, up until a certain point. If the game's less then 48 or so hours to play through I'll complete in a few days of getting it, as Dragon age Origins and Hacknet have proven for me. I suppose sims as well sometimes, but less often.

I was looking forward to Need for Speed coming out on the PC, thinking it would give a well deserved nod to the days of Underground 2. However, I had a little go on the PS4, and the driving is weird. You could be doing 180 mph, quick handbrake turn into a hard left, and STILL make it! Any other game and you'd have gone straight into the building.

you can do 0-90 faster in 7th or 6th gear, faster than grinding through gears, thats hell of a clutch control even for a game.
