SSD worth it for installing games on?

Drunkaroos

So I have my OS installed on my Samsung 840 Evo, and it has sped up my boot times so much I would hate going back to booting on an hdd. I have also heard that SSDs are a big upgrade if you install games on them. Would it be worth it to buy a 500gb ssd and install all my games on it?

Depends on the game. Usually for games that can have alot to load (Like skyrim) the area will load ultra fast, so it may be worth it to you. But if you don't mind the 15ish or so seconds of loading time, don't bother.

some games would benefit like Fallout 4, the difference would be noticeable, but on a game like eve online, you wouldn't really notice a difference as load times are already good. as previously stated if the game usually loads a lot, its nice to have instant loads where you'd usually have a 1-2 second pause.

"worth it" is relative

depends if you think spending that much money for faster load times is worth it

also depends on your income

Worth is a pretty personal decision.
Some would say no, some would say yes. It all comes down to what you think, not what we think.

Personally, I'd definitely do it. Right now I run only solid state drives in the tower, and have a 2TB external drive for mass storage.

When I upgrade my system I'll put in 1TB of solid state, with a 12TB external NAS.

HDD's, to me, are for budget systems.

I have a WD black that does a good job at keeping load times low, but an ssd will always help. the question is are you willing to pay for the ammount of storage needed to use it for your games.

Please Quote so i know you have replied. | If we have provided a solution to your problem mark it with answer found.

And also please read the COC and avoid the embarrassment and lecture that will ensue.
