noobie question about dual monitoring

KabuTheFox

newer to pc building

so the gpu i am looking at has 3 displayports, 1 hdmi, and 1 dvi outputs.
how would i go about setting up a dual screen display of 1080p monitors?

would i be better off finding 2 monitors with displayport inputs or is there is a way to do this with the 1 hdmi port?

If you have 2 screens you cannot use the together for a game as you cross hair would be in the middle and you can mix and match what ports you use unless you are going for a surround setup with 3 or 5 monitors.

If the monitor has displayport, use that.  Otherwise, just use the hdmi and dvi and plug both into the GPU.

all those ports can do 1080p perfectly fine

just choose the one that you have the cable for and the monitor has input for

You can mix and match ports. Ex- I have my main display on DVI, and then my secondary on HDMI.

hdmi to dvi cables and adapters exist, they work flawlessly together.

If you have 2 screens you cannot use the together for a game as you cross hair would be in the middle and you can mix and match what ports you use unless you are going for a surround setup with 3 or 5 monitors.

to clarify 1 would be for gaming / rendering, and the other would be for whatever (if i am gaming it might be used for social media, and if i am rendering or doing art stuff it would be for reference images and youtube)

does displayport offer any extra image or color clarity (or any benefits )over hdmi? (this is only referring to 1080p / 1200p monitors)

Not every game is an FPS.

this is true, but i can imagine that gaming with monitor break in the direct center of vision would be troublesome for most

When I see someone wants to run 2 monitors, it is always one gaming, one random stuff.  But then there is always someone who says something dumb about surround or eyefinity.  AMD doesn't even let you do eyefinity with 2 as of Crimson because it is terrible.
