2gb of Vram enough for 1080p?

Hey all! So as the topic says. Do you think 2gb of vram is enough for 1080p gaming for the foreseeable future? I have an r9 380 2gb and trying to decide if I want to upgrade to an r9 380x early next year for the 4gb of vram.

barely - but a 380X isn't worth - go for a 390

It's enough for now but the 380x isn't much of an upgrade from a 380.

I was thinking that, depending on my tax refund I may just grab a r9 390x devil or a gtx 980. Longevity.

I am leaning towards the r9 390x devil. I just want the lower temps.

At maximum settings, yes. But for the question "is it enough" I'd say yes, in the sense that it's adequate for playing games if your goal is to just actually play the game.

I would assume you would want to play the game at decent settings if you're purchasing a somewhat high end card.

You dont have to run on ultra low if you have 2gb of vram. As long as you aren't stupid with the settings, and work around the limitations, you will be good for a while.

 

Many settings like aa have little visual impact for the performance they need, so you can turn them down.

 

I have a 3gb video card, and I dont see it becoming a problem at 1440p for a while.

 

When I had my old 760s, I did come close to the 2gb limit, but even if I turned some settings down to reduce the vram usage, i likely would not have noticed a large difference.

I just switched from a gtx 770 windforce 2gb and I had no problems running games at high-max settings. It would run gta 5 on high at a very stable fps with occasionally dipping down into the 50's. only settings I was unable to crank up was the anti-aliasing effects.
