my R9 295x2 is so far unaffected. running latest drivers...

Hawaii may or may not be affected. Ill retest with my HD 7950 boost.... its basically a 280. Maybe its just GCN 1.0?

295x2 should be running a custom fan controller so it shouldn't matter either way.

Reference Hawaii is known to be (at least occasionally) affected.

r9 fury : no problems been playing since the driver release : heroes of the storm, battlefront , fallout 4.

The chance for a card to fry are very low unless you mess with OC settings, because it should thermal throttle at 85*C or shut down

Fiji gpus (and apparently some other newer models) are not affected.

Also that's not quite the way thermal throttling on gpus work.

Planned obsolescence isn't usually introduced with an optional driver update.

In the new Crimson overdrive, the only options/choice I have for fan control is to set the target fan speed %. There is no on or off toggle/option that you speak of. Not for me anyways. I'm running two 290's.

Seems i had this problem myself on my new fury card, luckily i can just Saphire's TriXX software running and the fan profile kicks in and works a charm, The fans barely get to 40% and my Temps are in the low 50's MAX.

Planned obsolescence isn't usually introduced with an optional driver update.

They generated hype over a driver that people usually couldn't care less about. That gets more people to update their drivers. I have a friend that doesn't really keep up with tech and only updates drivers when I remind him to. Now I'm hoping that I didn't mess up his $300 graphics card.

The flickering minimap on GTAV and Fallout 4 made me go back to 15.11. I have a 290 (XFX) didn't hit me, or I'm not aware it did. I literally removed crimson 2hours after installing.

wow, this is a pretty huge problem. my 280X is a-okay (set the fan speed 100%... PC suddenly is loud as a jet engine) but i feel pretty bad for those affected. i wonder if AMD's gonna honor an RMA, or what their response is gonna be. better be some sort of hotfix, at least

i just sort of deal with the flickering minimap. good thing i'm not the only one though.

I think this might be an issue with Overdrive as that's the only thing that has direct access to the fan speed and since most people don't use it it's only occurring here and there. Bad thing is, supposedly once you activate it, you "renounce" your warranty

I actually think people with overdrive are fine, it seems to be an issue with "set and forget" users

well this is happening to newer products, so I doubt it would do them any good at all except get them less business

People being scarred about their GPUs burning because of faulty AMD software, while I managed to run my old GeForce 9600GT for 6h at 100-105°C while playing theHunter... Card still going strong [emoji1]

Glad I never updated. AMD f**ked up bad here... I can't remember another occasion where a botched driver update has actually killed GPUs. Still rocking CCC.

My 280x is fine, but I run MSI Afterburner with almost every game so I'll notice it before it's too late. Being overly cautious sometimes pays off.
