Right then boys and girls, the end is nigh!

The loop is installed and currently doing final leak stress test. Yay

In other news....

I have been running prime 95 for 90 minutes now on stock clock with all the fans on the rad OFF.. Cant get the CPU over 55c LOL...

all the people who are hating on the FX 9590 and calling spannerhands an idiot for getting one should go and shit on linus's thread about his personal rig. I mean really 8 SSD in RAID zero, so stupid. This is about having fun and pushing your hardware to the limit. This is the kind of discussion where IPC and price to performance do not matter, all that matters is who has the highest Ghz and that is where the fun comes from.

is it possible to delid the FX9590 and if so you should because more Ghz is more better.

The FX processors are not effected with TIM issue between the Die and the Lid,  the temps with my cooling solution are not the issue, as they are very good, just need to perfect my settings more... otherwise the only way to go is LN2...

No. They use solder to apply the heat spreader. If someone tried to remove the heat spreader, they'd rip the die out of the package.

well that's nice to hear, they actually care about the TIM not sucking. You could try putting you rad in a Fridge, that should get you better temp i would imagine

You cannot delid AMD processors because the heatspreader is sautered onto the cpu die (forgive me if thats the incorrect terminology). But AMD currently does not use TIM, the heatspreader is sautered to the die for arguably better heat dissipation.

Well bit of an update... with weeks testing...

Standard FX9590 is 4.7Ghz with a 5.0Ghz turbo (Turbo does not run all cores at same time @ 5.0Ghz?)

5.4 Ghz... Will post and boot into windows, but that's about it... Total Fail at any voltage...Well without risking killing the CPU...

5.3 Ghz... Was stable until yesterday it crashed on me yesterday in Photoshop, had problems stress testing due to high thermal only can do 20 min before CPU hits 65C

5.2 Ghz... Does not crash in Photoshop but same problem with stress testing...

5.1 Ghz... No problem as voltage can be set at 1.5V stress test all day CPU does not get over 58

5.0 GHz... Works Perfect very low voltage & temps... Room Temp 22c CPU Temp idle 32c Full Load video encoding for 12 Hours max 51c

So its been fun but a bit of an anti climax, will possibly have another crack if I get some different ram...as all the problems are ram related even when I have only one DIMM occupied.

Ahh okay, I figured that was the wrong word. Just couldn't think of the right one! Thank you :)

Thanks. Are you planning to keep it at 5.1Ghz 24x7 on all cores?

Also are you planning to run any benchmarks at 5.1Ghz? I would be interested in seeing the numbers at 5.1Ghz vs 4.6Ghz (typical fx-8350 overclock).

I am currently running it @ 5.ghz  24/7 on all cores at the moment as I can do this @ 1.44 V.

I am waiting for some new SSD drives to arrive, once I have re-installed the computer, then I  can start benchmarking again as currently something is not right with my current installation and its giving incorrect results...

Cool! Thanks again- this thread has been interesting...

Gotta wonder whether this is this the limit, or whether there will be a few buyers who get lucky and end up with better silicon and manage to push upto 5.5Ghz stable. I suppose there may not be as these are all highly binned chips, but it's not impossible...

I saw some guy's FX8350 chip surviving in 2GHz. I think I saw it in overclockers 5ghz club or something. But you know what, your results aren't too shabby. Besides, i've been enjoying the thread, if anything!
