PlayStation 4 sales hit 30 million

Sony has announced that the PlayStation 4 has sold through over 30.2 million units worldwide since its release in late 2013. The figure is as of Sunday, November 22nd, and Sony says "PS4 continues to demonstrate the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history."

 

Microsoft hasn't revealed Xbox One sales figures in over a year, saying last November that it was close to having shipped 10 million units to retailers.

Microsoft won’t say how many Xbox Ones it has sold, which is actually the approach Sony took when the PlayStation 3 was clearly behind the Xbox 360.

Unofficial estimates put it at less than 16 million though, barely half of what Sony has managed in the same time period. The Wii U is on around 11 million, after having been out for a year longer than the other two machines.

On the face of it Sony’s runaway success is hard to explain, given there’s little difference in terms of hardware power and the Xbox One has an inarguably superior range of exclusive games.

I'm honestly impressed with the numbers they got considering the competition it has with the Xbox One and the WiiU (and of course the PC)

Now that Sony and Microsoft are getting more exclusives on their hands the more I think the console's growth will rise

I'm personally waiting for what Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft will bring in the future

Well there can only be one... #PCMASTERRACE but lol every game it's the same shit. It runs mostly well on the PS4 and has big bugs/stutters/dropped frames on the Xbone

Or we buy a PS4 so we can play Gravity Rush/Bloodborne on it.  And also use a PC with insane specs.

Formerly had an Xbox One for the living room media and it sometimes struggled even with that. PS4 is quite impressive so far I'll admit, though I got a great deal on mine, doubt I could have justified full price. Still, it's not bad at all. Even in simple terms like booting up, OS navigation, loading apps, it's faster than my old Xbox One.

 

Congrats Sony, you definitely made the better console this time around.

 

And boo both Sony and Microsoft, stop getting caught up in a low price war and build something with a futureproof GPU!

Yeah that is pretty expected. I found out basically everyone in my school plays video games. A fraction PC most Xbone and PS4 but it is crazy, the druggies play, the hicks play, the football team and QB plays GTA V and destiny, the hipsters play, and obviously the nerds and geeks. Most people don't talk about it because they feel like a nerd. If you talk around lots of people play so I don't see 30 million as a shocking number

I come to realize when it comes to electronics there is no such thing as future proof. companies don't want to build goods that will play future games on max setting they want you to buy new, this goes with PC components as well as phones hell even house hold appliances. We live in a throw away world now.
