Since we have 150 (and more to see♫) threads somehow related I want one to focus on the real issue!

Are all (or most) of the Fallout 4 haters victims on the HYPE TRAIN?!?!

Personally, I have already gotten many movies, shows, games, etc. ruined this year because of over marketing and hype. So, for Fallout 4, the newest addition to one of my favorite franchises, I avoid all news and promotions for it after the E3 reveal. It was a challenge but I did it! Now that the game is out it has exceeded all my expectations.

I think all the people complaining about graphics, bugs, or failed exceptions have taken a ride on the hype train and ruined the game for themselves (if you never played FA before or just don't like this genre, you are excluded).

Thoughts???

For me when I compare it to FO3

the issues I have are

1. Everyone makes you the leader but at the same time you take orders from them not the other way around

2. The actual story is very short but they make it longer by making you an errand boy

Thats that. If you need to get in touch chances are you can find someone that knows me that can get in touch.

Lol, massive FO fan comes on here and loves the game, but since subjectively AND objectively speaking it's a total pile of poop, he instead questions the "hate".

Like really man? If you enjoy the game fine. Great.

Hell most of the people here that dislike the game have been disliking it since the first trailers for it came out and it was BLATANTLY obvious the game was way behind the times, and was still going to be buggy as shit (when looking up the definition of buggy see bethesda.)

And don't get me wrong, I love Bethesda games for sandboxing, but man they are some steaming piles of shit at launch (well really until the modding community spends a year or three fixing the bugs Bethesda is too lazy to do themselves).

I didn't have any expectations. Before I bought the game I was even considering not to buy it, because I didn't care much about it and actually I was a lot more excited for the new Need For Speed.

Now that I have it, I'm excited and disappointed at the same time.

I didn't have any hype but my expectations were still not met.

Just the hype surrounding it in general was too much.

Someone told Luke and Linus at CES 2017 to "Unban the legend known as Jerakl" and that's about all I've got going for me. (It didn't work)

Let me ask you this: Is it ok when Ubisoft does this?

But with FA we all expect some bugs here and there. But with Ubisoft their bugs are game breaking and they try to pretend nothing is wrong. EA/Ubisoft pretty much killed Assassins Creed because of it (atleast I haven't heard much about Syndicate after release)

Please see my response to the previous person and to my earlier statement: "(if you never played FA before or just don't like this genre, you are excluded)". I'm not a fanboy. I like FA but I wasn't expecting a revolutionary world changing game. When FA3 came out sandbox open world was rare, now ever developer is making it.

See the part where I say I enjoy Bethesda sandbox GAMES (as in I have literally played ALL OF THEM).

Morrowind came out in 2002. By then and from then on Sandboxing was a standard for Bethesda, and by the time Fallout 3 came out it was nothing special at all (sandboxing that is...) Sure in the last three years Sandboxing has seen a huge revival, but that doesn't give Bethesda any sort of pass.

None of my problems with the game are to do with graphics, bugs or performance.

Combat/gunplay in FO4 is great, there are some very cool places to explore but character building and conversation options in the game are not very good.

I find the dialog system to be a massive step back over FO 3 and NV.

It is very rare to see a speech check that isn't just asking for more money.

I think FO 3 and NV did a much better job as there were far more speech checks and they used more skills and showed you what skills they used.

Before you could have speech checks for any of the SPECIAL stats or skills and it made me want to create multiple characters and do multiple play throughs to see how things changed if I talked to people when I had high STR, or was good with energy weapons or was good at bartering.

Now, as far as I have seen, the checks seem to pretty much just be charisma based and none of my other skills/perks or special stats have any influence on conversations and as a result I have not felt the excitement to start a new game with a different build.

I also am not totally sold on the new perk system.

My main complaint is that I am locked out of abilities until I get to a specific level.

I liked being able to dump all my skill points into a specific stat on some FO3 or NV play throughs so I could unlock computers or doors early, be good and sneaking right away, get a head start at making caps by getting my barter up.

Sure, you were locked out of perks until you hit a specific level in previous games but this game locks you out of even more abilities, especially useful ones that I like to try to get up earlier, even at the expense of other stats and skills.

I love the game, but you sir make excellent points. These were my biggest disappointments. Like you said, I was expecting this game to be ugly and buggy (not that that's excusable). But the way they've done speech, skills and perks is very disappointing

I have the same issues with it I have with Skyrim, its a classic Bethesda engine mess. I only game at 100fps on high refresh rate monitors and with their physics engine breaking at anything set above 60 the game is effectively unplayable. Skyrim was never fixed and FO4 isn't going to be either. Its a fairly typical game release these days, its got a lot of console interface and its quite a lot of technical bugs. All these are just objectively bad things, we aren't even on to whether the way the game functions is reasonable. Its pretty average as far as somewhat broken games go.

Disappointing for me. After FO3, Skyrim. The same bugs are still in there. Beth couldn't care to fix their shit.

I'm new to the fallout series and so far I'm thoroughly enjoying FO4. Just figured out what was causing my frame rate issues and now I'm enjoying it even more. :)

I think too much these days, games are over-analyzed. Games haven't changed drastically in the last 3-5 years. It's becomeing more and more difficult for devs to impress and come up with something truly original and new. Thus, we pick every little thing apart and forget to just enjoy the game(s) for what they are.

Yep. Shadow distance. Turned it down to medium and blam, silky smooth 60fps solid at 1440p ultra. ;)

I don't even think the game is ugly, I doubt it'll win any awards for visuals but I quite like the art style and love how colorful it is.

FO4 is full of bright, vibrant colors that are a welcome change from the browns and greys that so many AAA games tent to use and it is rather surprising there is so much color when you remember this is a post apocalypse setting.

As for bugs, the game has been amazingly stable for me with not a single crash in over 40 hours and only a few very minor bugs.

Even with official and fan patches FO3 and NV still aren't as stable and bug free for me as FO4 has been.

Bathesda has really done some great work with some parts of the game, but it has come at the price of the RPG elements, the parts that I find the most interesting and the parts that kept me coming back for multiple playthroughs of FO3 and NV.

tbh fam, I wasn't all that excited for it. I didn't see many trailers for it and was expecting the game to be mad mediocre at best. I was pleasantly surprised.

The story isn't the best I've seen but it was better than Skyrim's or New Vegas's and the environment was a throwback to FO3, my preferred Fallout game. Also the factions are less retarded than NV's.

Combat is fun, especially with rebalanced survival damages, but once you build up like 8 cores you and get BoS armor can use power armor forever and never face challenge again.

Crafting was well done and much better than NV's.

Mods are great already.

Game has mad performance issues but there are workarounds to lessen the effect. Only bug is borderline game destroying but for PC users a single console command can remedy it. I haven't had more than one crash after like 35 hours of gameplay.

Knowledge is power, guard it well.

Not to mention Bethesda is literally THE SINGLE WORST gaming company still around today when it comes to fixing and addressing bugs..

The only franchise I will ever fanboy over is Starwars. And even then I can say I hate the new BF. You just sound like one of those haters that purposely try to throw shit on a company to annoy people. See the rest of the comments here? These are civilized normal responses on why people hate/like the game.

And I did play Skyrim at launch...and stopped playing it because I got bored. This is a FA thread.

The one thing I hate is the perk system. I have to search thru each row for the one I might want and by them I forgot the others so I'm not sure what I want. The lvl lock is annoying but understandable.

I was always ehh about the dialogue in Fallout out so still on not sure if I like or hate it
