Is it legal and also is it possible?

as96

So I've been meaning to play some of the games of my childhood (Crash Bandicoot, Radikal bikers (am I the only one who played this?), etc.) the issue is that I have no idea where are my ps1 discs, my mom probably threw them in the trash a while ago, so...

Is it legal if I download the games I had? They are not sold anymore and I did in fact buy them.

Also, if it's legal and I download them, can my ps3 read them?

60GB version of the PS3 is able to play ps1 and ps2 games. Unless OP doesn't have that model.

I have the Fat version, but I think it's the 80GB one, I haven't used it in a while I can't remember but I'm pretty sure it's not the 60GB.

An emulator for PC is not illegal the illegal part is using the BIOS file that comes with the console as its still copywrite by the owner. Same with the games... but really nobody cares.

There's a difference between what's legal, what will actually get you in trouble, and what is moral and immoral.

I THINK you might be able to play them. Backwards compatibility is wonky with the PS3. As far as I know, then only the first generation (Phat PS3) had it. But here's a list that you can go through.

60GB Phat PS3 fer lyf.

If I burn the image to a dvd do you think it will read that or it's gonna freak out for the disc not being original?

I've got to agree with this guy, it's morally wrong to do it, and I would not do it because of that, not because it's a iffy area.

But I paid for my games, I just lost them and they are not sold anymore why is it morally wrong?

It's a grey area.

Morality is subjective so whatever as far as morality.

It is seen as ethical though, considering those games are not being made anymore.

Just the legality of copyright and piracy are the main issue.

But honestly, no one cares.

I mean downloading ROMS in general, if you own the game it's fine.

It's not morally wrong.

Different people have different views on what is right or wrong, I deem it wrong.

I was going to mention this. I forgot the actually case/decision but I know analysts thought it could be used to justify companies or people downloading old software and entertainment.

I know the other case Google won pretty much made the decision old books and stuff like that are free game if they are old enough.
