AMD/NVIDIA Market-Share Table Shows NVIDIA Conquering But AMD Gaining Momentum With A 0.8% Increase

AMD-vs-NVIDIA-by-MAHSPOONIS2BIG-672x372.

Back in August, we informed you about the AMD/NVIDIA market share for Q2 2015. As we said back then, NVIDIA has been dominating the discrete GPU market. And a couple of days ago, Jon Peddie Research shared its latest data for Q3 2015, in which AMD has seen an increase of 0.8% in the discrete GPU market.

NVIDIA is still dominating the charts with a really healthy 81.1%, followed by AMD with 18.8%. And while AMD has a momentum given these latest stats, it will take a lot to challenge NVIDIA.

dasdasdasd.jpg

Seems like the new Fury series did their job, with the ever so slightly more powerful 390 vs the 970, AMD has managed to claw back a small 0.8%.  Nothing super great, but hope there's more to come and we get cheaper GPUs as a result of competition!

That's good to hear, hopefully it will eventually stabilize at 50/50

Considering that the 900 series is more than a year old, that's to be expected.

The 970 launched in September of 2014.

The r9 390 launched in June of 2015.

Lol, only at 1440p and 4K just like the 290 and 290X (still don't get why Nvidia insists on just using colour compression for their high end cards-they know how to make a high bandwidth bus).

If JayZ - the biggest Nvidia fan says the 390 is better - it's just better. You're going to have to accept this and move on :)

Its literally an overclocked R9 290 with more vRAM and access to a better version of the driver.

who cares its cheaper and better than a 970....

For many places, a 970 is actually cheaper by a bit.

I'm not grasping at anything-I'm looking at buying a Sapphire or XFX 390/390X when I manage to sell my GTX 970.

That does not justify this: "Lol, only at 1440p and 4K just like the 290 and 290X (still don't get why Nvidia insists on just using colour compression for their high end cards-they know how to make a high bandwidth bus)."

Nothing to justify-I can count on 1 hand the games that a 290/390 performs better at 1080p.
