Intel i3 4160 or AMD fx 6300 ll stock vs stock ll Gaming

Hi , I have been putting too many posts lately as I'm still a bit confused which 1 to go for in a budget. Please bear in mind that i won't be overclocking. Would be using it just for gaming. No vid rendering, editing, etc. For gpu i would be getting the 750ti 2gb.

Get an I3 for gaming.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

I3 4150, Intel HD graphics, corsair CX750M, 4gb ram, Asus H81M-E, corsair 230T, Intel stock cooler WD Green 2TB Gigabyte 550TI

Haswell i3's are better than FX6300's for gaming. They perform similarly in very well optimized games (these are rare), and the i3 wins significantly in games optimized for just a few cores (most games). The i3 also has a better upgrade path.

i3, actually HAS an upgrade path that matters... what do I mean by that? Throw in an 8350 instead of a 6300 and not much changes in some games........ AT ALL.

Plus your limiting yourself from 120-144HZ Panels (CPU cannot let the game drive the GPU to go to that high fps mark) and High-end GPU's can't be used to their 100% potentials when the game does not use all resources, and the CPU's it CAN use, are slow as balls. MINFPS and Frametimes are the most important metric for performance testing and judging how fluid a game is being delivered, FX suffers moreso than Intel on MIN-FPS and Frametimes due to these slow cores being used, and not all of them are used together in games, games can start with 2-4 threads (2-4CPU's to drive it) and no more, some games use more. But its not universal to expect all games using all cores.

i3>i5, changes are felt and seen instantly in games.

The i3 is no slouch, but games can start to suffer on some i3's when the game calls for more CPU power, an i5 pretty much has zero issues providing the game with what it needs.

It feels like there has been years upon years of this same question.. and there has been.

Google the same question yourself and you'll see the general consensus is Gaming is better on Intel, FX will play games, but not efficiently.

/The people who say they have no problems, can't say they have played ALL games, so while they say "Runs fine for me" it may not for you, we ALL have different definitions of "Playable" don't we.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

Logic ^

A person with an i3 has the same amount of games to choose from compared to a person with 2 Xeon 2699 V3s *cough* linus *cough*

smh fam can you elaborate? If anything the i3 has a wider choice of games to choose from because FX runs (relatively) quite poorly on a few MMOs, FSX, Arma 3, DayZ, and many other games.

What's the best budget i5?

i5-4440/4460 are the best value, but i5-4690k is the best in terms of performance (excluding Skylake).

Also any suggestion on which mobo to go with for the Intel i3! I'm in a budget and once again, I won't be overclocking nor I'm planning to go for a SLI config down the line.

Xeon E3-1231v3 has an amazing price/performance ratio, it also doesn't need expensive Z97 motherboard and doesn't need an expensive cooling solution, with all that in mind it is more powerful than the 4690k and actually cheaper if you include the rest of the costs.

CPU performance will be the same across diff boards (give or take the usual 1.5% margin of error), keep in mind if you need a certain number of Sata ports or USB ports, may wanna mention what you absolutely need to plug into it.

Are you serious? Cores dont really mean as much as you think it does. Also why do you think that someone who uses AMD will have more game choices over someone who uses Intel? I assume they both willl be using steam, origin, and other game buying sites, and im 100% sure that Intel and AMD users are able to access them all. (Please tell me that post was bait)
