Small mistakes that happen almost everytime you build a PC

Hey guys Im posting a topic today that, you guessed it, is about the very minor mistakes that always happen while building a PC. For example, I have building PC`s for a few years now but now and then I forget to flip the switch on my PSU :P.

For my first PC I forgot to put in the standoffs. 

 

I was very confused for 15 minutes.

 

Then the 2nd I built was a case that had raised standoff holes.

 

Confusion continued.

I do that literally every time I build a new PC, and every time I've done it the PC's worked perfectly- to me it's a sign of good luck.

Forget to plug something in first. I build in really small chassis so things have to be in a specific order, like front panel connectors, for instance.

I forgot to plug in my cpu fan header one time

EVERY TIME I take apart my computer, I always forget to plug in the PCI-E power into my GPU, and my computer gives those horrible screeches of death (it beeps a lot)

I used to be quite active here.

I will forget to plug in the sata power to something every time. It's always sata power. So far, I managed to forget to plug in the power to my fan controller, boot drive, dvd drive, and the modular bit that plugs in to the PSU. All on seperate builds.

I forget the sata power cord  to plug in, i tend to do that alot for maintenance, I unplug it to reach something but forget about it. And i forget to plug the psu into the surge protector.

I went through this in the 2006-2008 era, when cases really started to get a lot better.  I put stand offs in the case cussing and fussing "Why the fuck didn't they put these in already, I mean hells fucking bells" and then I go to put the motherboard in and the fucking IO shield didn't line up...  then after much debate I realized...  Then I cussed and fussed while taking the standoffs out "Why the fuck did they do this, they should have never changed anything, why would anyone put a raiser like this built into the case, what if I didn't want to raise my motherboard off my case!"

Put the motherboard in and then realize that the cutout for the cooler backplate isn't large enough to install the cooler with the mobo mounted.

For my first PC I forgot to put in the standoffs. 

 

I was very confused for 15 minutes.

 

Then the 2nd I built was a case that had raised standoff holes.

 

Confusion continued.

The case I used for my currect pc actually has those raised holes. I spent almost an hour trying to fit the standoffs before seeing two holes in the flat part of the case(? tray?) where they actually fit. -_-

Inserting the CPU the wrong way on my LGA775 boards( I've modded both of them), leaving the CPU cable unplugged and not hidden behind the motherboard (every fucking time I forget it), the base plate for coolers.

Sometimes we put together a bunch of pc's in a row here at the shop for a order and you find 1-2 with the IO shield tab jammed in the nic port because it was bent to far in. 

Kind of pisses you off after putting together like 30-40 pc's in a row to have to go back and redo 2-3 for something so stupid. 

 

Also back in the days of floppy i always for some reason put the floppy cable in backwards and then go turn the pc on and was like.. CRAP the light on the floppy drive is going!. 

I don't know why but i would always for some reason think stripe for floppy cable goes towards me but its the exact opposite took me awhile to force myself to put it in properly. 

 

It was quite a laugh around the office till i broke myself of the habit.
