GTX 750 Ti or 290x

DevTechStudios

I am doing a $700-$750 build, and I am at a stump. I want one of these 2 cards, but I have no clue what to chose. GPUs are my area of interest, so any insight would be cool! Thanks!

Serious question? A five second Google search would show the 290x SMASHES the 750.

Those 2 gpu's are in 2 different leagues. The 750ti is like a Honda civic and the 290 is like a Bugatti haha  Get a 290..

I think we may need a pair of spec sheets then (probably going to be 290X anyway, or some other middle ground)

I think the main thing here everyone is disregarding is that he said $700-750 build where he would be hard pressed to fit a decent system with a 290x still in it. If he has the cash... obviously 290x but it doesnt look like he really has the cash. I would say look for something like the 280x / 280 in that price range

If I go 290x I probably will go used. I am just working on a budget, and a $400+ GPU kills my wallet.

What currency will you be using?

I looked at your pc part picker, and looked to be USD, but didn't want to make any assumptions.

I just grabbed a 290 off ebay for $180usd, you shouldn't be anywhere near $400 if you're looking at a 290 especially if you're thinking used

Higher frame rate over higher resolution.

I understand regarding your budget. How many $'s do you have for a GPU exactly?

That would narrow it down.

I got my r9 290 for $146 from microcenter. You can certainly find it for less than $250 brand new. IMO. If you have around $200 to spend on a gpu nothing beats the r9 290 in terms of price to performance. Its older, but its basically a slightly cut down 390 and blows low end(750ti)- entry level(r9 380/gtx 960) cards out of the water
