How overpriced are Pre-Builds compared to DIY?

Khajiit Dealer

Im strongly considering buying this computer because of the 4-year warranty and free parts upgrades over time:https://www.digitalstorm.com/configurator.asp?id=1239329

I'm wondering just how overpriced this is relative to the parts in the machine and whether or not it's worth it (I've never built a computer before)

i've seen prebuilts that were actually cheaper than building yourself.

that is, because they can get cheap windows licenses, they cheap out on the PSU, and have OEM mobos with as little features as possible.

That PSU with those specs. Seems interesting. Not the best PSU choice for a high end Rig, digital storm should know better.

You guys are ignoring the 4 year warranty, free upgrades, and free shipping.

Free upgrades? I doubt that. also most manufacturers have pretty lasting warranties anyway.

The warranty appears to be a non-removable item. Either way, this would usually only account for $150-300 at most, comparing to the plans available at Best Buy and Staples.

Pentium G3258 | MSI Z97 PC Mate | G.SKILL 4x4GB 1066MHz | 500GB Samsung 2.5" | Stock cooler | Pending GPU | EVGA 500B | Antec DF-35

GoPro Hero 3 Silver | Netgear R7000 Nighthawk with DD-WRT | HP Officejet Pro 8610 | Canon iP110 | AudioTechnica ATR2500 USB

Not 'free' in that the parts are free, I mean that they'll do all the maintenance for me.
