5820K is great if you need the cores, 6700K is good and can do both DDR3 and 4 and 4790K is good too

because its one of the worst CPUs on the market right now

 

-its more expensive than a 8350, while being the same CPU just overclocked

-the single core performance is still horrible compared to intel

-you can get an i5 for the same price which will give you much better performance in all programs and most games

-it pumps out huge amounts of heat, so you need a really good cooler for it

-with all that heat you can barely overclock it any more than it already is

-it uses a ton of power

-you need a special motherboard that has enough power delivery for that CPU, or else you will fry the board

-its over 3 yearls old, all the motherboards for it lack modern features like more sata ports, more USB3, PCIe 3.0, etc..

9590 is an ocd 8350, which is a pointless cpu to begin with, if you want poor single core performance and a cpu that doesnt even display temps correctly while eating your power, go ahead, thats something you wont be disappointing on

 

 

the 9590 costs as much as a xeon 1230v3 in the uk and even as much as some i7s.

no, it can do both

but only one at a time, and it depends on the motherboard

some Z170 boards are ddr3 and some are ddr4

Ok i'll pass up the chance to cook bacon on my cpu and just go with a i7 4770 with 32 GB of 2400mhz or even 2666mhz if they have it

The 8320 is practically the same, but far cheaper if you are set on team Red.  A 4790k or 6700k is a far more useful CPU.  If you get a 9590 you may want to make sure the power company knows when you want to run it so they can ramp up production.

 

But we really need to know what your plans are for the CPU before we can help you.

If your main concern is the cost of hardware and performance per dollar, then it is not a wise decision to go with the 9590. The money you'll save from the purchase will be spent on power bills. I like AMD cpus but until the ZEN platform is released these FX chips are very power consuming. It's better to go for a Skylake CPU or a Broadwell....still it depends if you have an old system, plus do you want it for gaming or for video editing and heavy tasks like that ?

Just get a FX-8370 or something because the FX-9590 requires a VERY COSTLY MOTHERBOARD!
