Yup, FX-9590 is probably the worst CPU on the market. It's basically an overclocked cherry picked FX-8350 with ridiculous TDP. There was a video of a motherboard (I think it was MSI 970A Krait) which VRM caught on fire thanks to the CPU. Too bad youtube took it down. :D

If OP wants an AMD CPU for some weird reason (not hating on AMD, but their FX series is ancient) FX-8350 or FX-8370 are decent.

Ok i'll pass up the chance to cook bacon on my cpu and just go with a i7 4770 with 32 GB of 2400mhz or even 2666mhz if they have it

If you don't care about Intel Quick Sync or the integrated GPU in the i7-4770, you can buy a Xeon E3-1231v3 for $60 less. It's clocked 100 MHz slower and it's Haswell Refresh (so the temps will probably be better on the Xeon), but otherwise it's an i7-4770 minus the igp and with support for ECC RAM (though ECC is useless for gaming, it's more for servers, NAS, workstation use), though of course you can use regular DDR3 with it just as well.

Or did you mean the unlocked i7-4770k? In which case you should go with the i7-4790k which has much better thermals on average and comes out the box at 4.2 GHz on all four cores even without any overclock.

why would you compare a cpu to a gpu?

Well you would think a gpu uses more power than a cpu right? Wrong In the case of an 9590.

Gpu: MSI 4G GTX 970 | Cpu: i5 4690k @4.6Ghz 1.23v | Cpu Cooler: Cryorig r1 ultimate | Ram: 1600mhz 2x8Gb corsair vengeance | Storage: sandisk ultra ii 128gb (os) 1TB WD Green | Psu: evga supernova g1 650watt | Case: fractal define s windowed |

Should i get a AMD 9590 and sacrifice the option of using DDR4 memory?

Its different story if ur going budget then go for fx 8300

Anyways. Personally i recommend x99 or z97 as z170 motherboards are expensive for "decent standard"

X99 and 5820k is super good for editing streaming etc.

If u rly cant spend more on ddr4 then haswell personally is a good option

“It would seem that Our Lord finds our desires not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased.”
