i don't think you are going to stop this by starting a thread on a tech forum.

lots of people who pre-order are actually moms and dads who buy their kids the latest games for their birthday and such. i don't think pre-ordering will ever really die.

I generally only pre-order games that has a unique limited edition, or physical bonus to it.

 

Other than that, I am generally pretty good at not buying games at all.

The Deu Ex; Mankind Divided was the nail in the coffin for me.

That pre-order system is the dumbest and most borderline dishonest piece of marketing I have seen.

They are littraly making their cutomers chose what content they will strip from the game, and even worse, they are holding part of the game ransome.

Sometimes pre orders support makers, and sometimes pre orders make sence ( big titles like gta )

Oh but you are. You can get game with few locked characters or missing missions. Get yourself spoiled in story content before game even comes out(deus ex)! And possibly more bad stuff witch affects non pre-ordering user

I did say as long as you're not affected ("you" being the non pre-ordering end-user), it doesn't really matter.

"as you're not affected" It's not relevant while looking at a bigger picture. Even if few games makes fair pre-ordering bonuses, that doesn't change the fact that most of games does not. And with every title it gets even worse.

If people would keep saying "as long as I'm not affected it's fine" soon even those games who make fair bonuses would disappear.
