People here in the UK use "brew" for "tea" so e.g "fancy a brew"

Also in the north we use "tea" for "dinner" so e.g "what did you have tea last night"

But I am from Western Netherlands, so my accent is kinda.. normal or whatever. Not an heavy accent, not using weird words or whatever. Maybe if I go to Belgium the words are weird

In Denmark there's huge differences between some guy from Copenhagen, to a 50-year old farmer in Jutland. Sometimes they can't even understand each other, even though it's the same language (somewhat)

So "a wireless router" is supposed to be pronounced "a wireless rooter"?

That sounds really weird.

Erm do u mean like slang? i saw this on a reddit thread awhile ago so ima just copy and paste it.

Cunt - Can be used to either define someone you hate, or even your best friend

How's it going mate - Typical Aussie greeting. Also, mates don't have to be your friends, mates are almost anyone you associate with, even strangers

That's Ace! - That's fucking excellent

Bloody oath - I totally agree

Bender - Parties/drinking that goes on for days without sleep

Bottle-o - Liquor store

Servo - Service/Gas station

Durry - Cigarette He's off his face! - A very drunk person

Cooked, Burgered, Pinging - Being really fucked up on drugs

Mate's rates - Selling something to a friend for cheaper than usual

There is obviously Straya but seriously only knobs say that it was literally something we made fun of bogans for saying and now these hipster have come along and fucked it.

There are some Danish words which doesn't really have an English translations.

Here are some examples:

  • Fattigfin - Means a person who is of a lower social class, but still holds to values often associated with the upperclass.
  • Rundetrunte -  It referes to a girl (I have also heard it be used about guys) who sleeps around with a lot of guys within the same social circle.
  • Hygge - ´cozy´ is usually used as the translation, but it isn't completly correct. While cozy usually referes to a physical state, ´hygge´ referes to the entire atmosphere surrounding a situation.

Even in Denmark there are local differences. in Southern Jutland, they greeting that isn't used anywhere else. they say Mojn (pronounced mʌjn). It means both ´hello´ and ´goodbye´ and it can also be used as a ´thank you´.
