Its not a great story, just fyi  :rolleyes:

 

So starting university soon, probably need to get some mobile device to do work, since I dont have a laptop or phone, so difficult to work on campus

 

I should get a laptop, much better for work than a phone

 

I already know I want a blade pro, for many reasons

 

Hmm, I could wait til march and get the 2016 version, which should have an updated CPU and much better battery life

Well shit.

 

Not gonna spend $3k just to have a much better model come out within months...

 

And I need it ON THE FIRST DAY :(

 

So I decide to get a XPS13, and next march upgrade to the blade pro

 

My mom could also use a new laptop, so the XPS13 would still be very useful

 

And that is how I have my first ultrabook sitting here on my desk downloading the windows 10 upgrade

 

This will also be the first time I use windows 10, since my PC is running a modded win7 and I need to make sure 100% of my programs work on win10 before upgrading

 

$1.4k for a temporary ultrabook? Sounds expensive, but it definitely feels nice so far the few times ive touched it :P

 

 

 

What do you think? Good decision? Bad decision? Do you have a XPS13? DO you go to university and use a laptop a lot?

The XPS 13 is no doubt very good. I say probably better than Blade Pro.

For stuff like this I would personally get a macbook pro/air. I don't normally like them but for school use they are better then anything else. Sure the razer blade is more powerful but has some serious problems like keys falling out, bad battery, underpowered for last years version, and other smaller things Apple workedout.

XPS 13 is nice but unless you plan on selling it you just wasted a ton of money there... why not just get an HP Stream and use that until you get yourself a Blade?

Its not a great story, just fyi  :rolleyes:

 

So starting university soon, probably need to get some mobile device to do work, since I dont have a laptop or phone, so difficult to work on campus

 

I should get a laptop, much better for work than a phone

 

I already know I want a blade pro, for many reasons

 

Hmm, I could wait til march and get the 2016 version, which should have an updated CPU and much better battery life

 

3 Days before school starts:

And I need it ON THE FIRST DAY :(

 

So I decide to get a XPS13, and next march upgrade to the blade pro

 

My mom could also use a new laptop, so the XPS13 would still be very useful

 

And that is how I have my first ultrabook sitting here on my desk downloading the windows 10 upgrade

 

This will also be the first time I use windows 10, since my PC is running a modded win7 and I need to make sure 100% of my programs work on win10 before upgrading

 

$1.4k for a temporary ultrabook? Sounds expensive, but it definitely feels nice so far the few times ive touched it :P

 

 

 

What do you think? Good decision? Bad decision? Do you have a XPS13? DO you go to university and use a laptop a lot?

Depends where you buy it from... if you get a laptop from the Microsoft Store (Signature Edition), it will come with a clean install on it.

I currently use what is basically a 15" version of the HP Stream and it definitely still cuts it for classroom use. And epic battery life.

The XPS 13 is no doubt very good. I say probably better than Blade Pro.

For most people yeah, by I really like 17.3" laptop screens

And laptops that look like macbook pros, but run windows natively, and are black not silver :)

plus a bunch of other reasons that I want a blade pro which dont really apply to anyone but me xD

 

For stuff like this I would personally get a macbook pro/air. I don't normally like them but for school use they are better then anything else. Sure the razer blade is more powerful but has some serious problems like keys falling out, bad battery, underpowered for last years version, and other smaller things Apple workedout.

My dad got a 15" macbook pro this summer. I have my opinions about apple and OSX, and I cant deny its a beautiful laptop, but I still prefer the blades design for many reasons.

I have to say though, the force touch trackpad is the best trackpad in the world.

 

XPS 13 is nice but unless you plan on selling it you just wasted a ton of money there... why not just get an HP Stream and use that until you get yourself a Blade?

I preferred the XPS look as well as the 15 hour battery life, slim bezels, and small stuff like that :)

If I was just going to sell it after some months I would get a $200 chromebook, but I wanted something that will last a long time, even if its not me using it

I actually considered the MSI GS 17" laptops a lot

they are also very powerful, slim, and good looking

 

I still like the blade pro better because its less square, more of a 16:9 shape

And the touchpad is on the right, which I love

Plus it looks like a macbook pro :P

At least get a macbook pro....

 

The one my dad has is pretty awesome, but after a month of using it I found a lot of stuff lacking in the OS such as registry edits, sorting through system files, and stuff like that

Maybe because you need to do that stuff through the terminal like linux? maybe, idk, I just know that I prefer the windows filesystem better

 

still a great laptop though, probably be my 2nd or 3rd choice after the blade despite how much I disliked the os

Depends where you buy it from... if you get a laptop from the Microsoft Store (Signature Edition), it will come with a clean install on it.

He said himself he was doing a upgrade install...

For most people yeah, by I really like 17.3" laptop screens

And laptops that look like macbook pros, but run windows natively, and are black not silver :)

plus a bunch of other reasons that I want a blade pro which dont really apply to anyone but me xD

 

My dad got a 15" macbook pro this summer. I have my opinions about apple and OSX, and I cant deny its a beautiful laptop, but I still prefer the blades design for many reasons.

I have to say though, the force touch trackpad is the best trackpad in the world.

 

I preferred the XPS look as well as the 15 hour battery life, slim bezels, and small stuff like that :)

If I was just going to sell it after some months I would get a $200 chromebook, but I wanted something that will last a long time, even if its not me using it

 

Yeah I'll give it to her, a much needed upgrade

 

Can you post some source that shows the upgrade install is bad in some way?

Because if its a clean version of windows 8, what can go wrong?

just a macbook? the low performance ultra thin one?

At least get a macbook pro....

 

The one my dad has is pretty awesome, but after a month of using it I found a lot of stuff lacking in the OS such as registry edits, sorting through system files, and stuff like that

Maybe because you need to do that stuff through the terminal like linux? maybe, idk, I just know that I prefer the windows filesystem better

 

still a great laptop though, probably be my 2nd or 3rd choice after the blade despite how much I disliked the os

Id obviously get the Pro :P Thinking I can get maybe up to $1700 for my Blade and then from there get a 13" rMBP w/ 256GB SSD and then have $200 left over to either save or go towards a new lens when my T6i arrives ^_^

well can you give an example? someone who had it go wrong?

because I think several hundred thousand people did the upgrade and its working for them...

Like what? My $250 Acer was a Signature Edition from the Microsoft Store. Came with clean 8.1, out of the box the 10 upgrade was ready and it also gave me a clean install. Zero issues. All I had to do was go to disk cleanup and remove Windows.old

good choice

I personally prefer larger screens, but its pretty much the same as the 15" model just different CPU

 

you will love the touchpad :)

thats exactly what im doing, directly upgrading the freash windows 8.1 install :)

was removing windows.old all you needed to do? is it just a file on the drive or does it need to be removed through disk cleanup
