So I like this girl, but, there are a few problems.

1. she is a grade above me

2. I never have enough confidence to ask a girl out.

So that second thing, thats a real problem with me. I can never work up the courage to acutaly ask a girl out. I have liked a few girls, but never done anything about it. I just can never do it.

And this girl I like, i seem to like more than the other girls that i have liked.

And she seems to like me, but I dont know if she just likes me as a friend, or more.

I know her as she is on my ski team.

 

1. Don't let a 1 grade difference stop you.

2. You can do it! If she says yes then you'll be glad you did ask, if you don't ask then you'll never know if she will go out with you.

It's okay, we deal with the occasional question about relationships, etc. It's good to talk about this sort of thing.

I would say just try and make friends with her first. Don't go headfirst into it, treat it like you would making any kind of friendship. Go about it with the mentality that she's just another person rather than specifically that she's a girl. Set yourself up as her friend. If she is willing to go forward with the whole friend thing, then that's a good start. Don't try to push anything towards a serious relationship. If it happens, it will happen on its own at its own pace. You need to start contact first, and then you need to build trust with that person. Oh, and people are going to chide me about friendzoning - derp, obviously that's a thing, but the fact of the matter is that a relationship is based on a mutual affection for one another. If someone chooses not to progress a friendship into a relationship then that's their prerogative, and you should respect their decision.

Try and look at it from her perspective. I would guess she's pretty normal. So if someone came up and asked to be your friend, how would you react? Conventional wisdom would indicate that you would be more than open to the idea. Friends are nice to have, she's not just gonna go "No, do not want". She'll probably say "okay" or something along those lines. So with that point of view in hand, muster up the courage to talk to her. She won't bite. If she does... we'll get to that if it happens. If she turns you down, then you know she's either anti-social or ridiculously shallow, and that's someone you want to avoid.

Realize this before you spend your whole life wanting/regretting. There are about 7 billion people in the world roughly half women. So that means about 7 other girls look like her.
