MSI 980TI Lightning Revealed [Reviewed by guru3d]

Rekx

Any word on the length of this card? I assume it's going to be longer the 6G card.

I'm guessing it'll be close to the G1 and Zotac's AMP cards.

I wonder how much this baby will cost... I'm not paying more than $749.

I would not even count Ubisoft games, nearly all of them are broken anyway, all these games support 21.9 and there is even more than this list

The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay - Assault on Dark Athena

Counter-Strike Global Offensive (fix)

Crysis 3

Dead Space 1 and 2

Deus Ex: Human Revolution and The Missing Link

Skyrim (fix)

Far Cry 3 and Blood Dragon

Hitman Absolution

Mass Effect 1,2 and 3

Max Payne 3 (the cutscenes are screwed up though)

Metro Last Light

Mortal Kombat Complete Edition (fix)

Oblivion

Outlast

Remember Me(fix)

Shadow Warrior

Sleeping Dogs

Tomb Raider

Velevet Assassin

The Witcher 2 (fix)

Alan Wake

Alan Wakes American Nightmare

Aliens Colonial Marines

Alien: Isolation (native 21:9 ingame only cutscenes are 16:9)

Batman Arkham Asylum GOTY + Original

Batman Arkham City GOTY + Original

Batman Arkham Origins

Battlefield 3

Battlefield 4

Brothers A Tale of 2 Sons

Crysis 3

Castlevania Lords Of Shadows Ultimate Edition

Dead Space 1

Dead Space 2

Dead Space 3

Deadfall Adventures

Dear Esther

Devil May Cry 5

Dirt 3 Complete Edition (Steamworks)

Elite Dangerous

Fallout 3 (you need to edit the ini files as launcher is hard coded): http://www.wsgf.org/dr/fallout-3

Fallout New Vegas (you need to edit the ini files as launcher is hard coded): http://www.wsgf.org/dr/fallout-new-vegas/en

Gauntlet (2014) 2560x1080 is native otherwise you need to edit the config file for 3440x1440

GTA V - Native 21:9. Cutscenes are 1920x1080 16:9 as expected.

Half Life 2: Update

Half Life 2 + Episodes 1+2

Hard Reset

Hard Reset EX

Lego Indiana Jones 1 + 2

Lego Batman 1 + 2

Lego Batman 3 (maintitlescreen cutscene has wrong aspect ratio otherwise all ingame cutscenes & the maingame content are native 21:9)

Lego Movie Videogame

Lords Of The Fallen

Max Payne 3 (some cutscenes are not full screen this is by design)

Metro Last Light

Metro Last Light Redux (some minor hud elements are stretched 16:9 only)

Metro 2033 Redux (some minor hud elements are stretched 16:9 only)

Middle Earth Shadow Of Mordor (16:9 cutscenes)

Need For Speed The Run

Need For Speed Hot Pursuit 2010

Portal 2

Prince of Persia 2008 (looks amazing as it has native 21:9 support although main menu is 16:9)

Ryse Son of Rome (some prendered cutscenes are 16:9 but ingame cutscenes are 21:9)

Shadow Warrior 2013

Tomb Raider 2013

Wolfenstein The New Order

Wolfenstein The Old Blood

Witcher 3

Also most new games will support it as well, want me to list more games.

Yes but 60hz is slideshow, 75hz is a bit better but still not enough. Is it so hard to make a 144hz 3440x1440 panel?

Also you cheated on your list I said NO .ini hacks/edits or third party programs, only changing the option ingame is NATIVE SUPPORT.

You can edit .ini files/use third party programs to make 99% of the games out there either support 8K, 5 monitors or 210:9 resolutions what ever you like.

The problem with 21:9 will always be 16:9 videos that the other 99% people on this world use.

Open your eyes and break your chains. Console peasantry is just a state of mind.

I love how they're not forcing the yellow this time around and the card is mostly black with just the two yellow accent rings. Hopefully will be available at retail soon!

Meh is still think the last gen design was better. But still nice to see the middle fan bigger.

Hmm... That full back plate probably means there won't be those fancy LEDs anymore :/

Nice to see improvements but the last lightning card was certainly better looking imo.

Why's that? I'm really liking the aggressive styling approach on this one compared to the previous design.

I think it might be better if they have lesser yellow. I don't like the letters "OC" thrown into my face :/

Idk really, it just doesn't really look interesting or unique, kinda reminds me of the G1 which is a pretty dull looking card.

Wouldnt the 3 fan problems mistake gonna happen again ?

No because there isn't a tiny ass fan that spins at 4k rpm

No it won't, they fixed the design like I thought they would and have decided to go with 3 equally sized fans like on the Gigabyte G1 and Asus Strix.

That looks phenomenal.

Our Grace. The Feathered One. He shows us the way. His bob is majestic and shows us the path. Follow unto his guidance and His example. He knows the one true path. Our Saviour. Our Grace. Our Father Birb has taught us with His humble heart and gentle wing the way of the bob. Let us show Him our reverence and follow in His example. Yeah I'm thinking it'll be somewhere around that range too. You thinking about picking one up soon?

Idk, I'd have to drain my loop and take out my classy and sell it w/ the block to pay for the card.  Although now that I know my 980 OC's like a bat out of hell I should probably be able to get a pretty good price out of it w/ the block.

And I'm currently saving up money to trade my 4770k for my friend's 4790k because it does 5 ghz at 1.3v.  Would be really useful for me as it'll only cost me about 100 dollars, and it'll save me from wanting to upgrade for a while.
