It seems like everyone likes it. I think it looks a bit gaudy and a bit confused

I mean this is pretty much what the White Sabertooth Z97 board would have looked like had the shroud been taken off.

And this is why I call it the confused mobo, it doesn't know what it wants to be. :D

 

It may be MSI trying the waters out. For me it seems like a mix between gigabytes black series and MSI oc series.

How are you liking your swiftech cpu cooler? I've considered it myself, but after hearing bad things about their quality control, it got my off buying one.

No. It doesn't have unlocked voltage

This card will need Samsung Memory to compete with the 980ti KPE otherwise MSI will be wasting their time developing this card. I have some high hopes but if they drop the ball on this one, idk if they will ever be taken seriously in the Extreme GPU overclocking scene again.

My MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G uses Samsung memory (which, funny enough, is not stable at any overclock at all), so chances are probably good.

Basically what @Lays said.  Doesn't cold-bug as easily, can overclock higher than Hynix, and generally better all around.  Nearly all of this matters with LN2 cooling, which won't really matter if you bought like a different 980ti.

 

I still find it strange the Classified doesn't have Samsung VRAM, but I guess it's a premium for KPE buyers paying that much extra money.

They actually used a big portion of "Elpida" and only lucky people got Hynix.  Apparently towards the end there were some cards with samsung, but they are very few and far between from what I've seen in the OCN owners club for lightning cards

The only thing which MSI said public is that the card is in development. They didn't even a prototype, so i would guess 3-4 months.

Well what they mean is properly that they will upgrade the fans and add new features. I highly doubt they'll change the color scheme. A lot of marketing has gone into the whole lightning/yellow thing.

I hope they don't change that. It's what makes the card the best looking one on the market.

Yeah nevermind I read it wrong, they were just talking about whether that Msi Titanium board is silver or white. Not the Lightning.
