thats retail packaging you gonna need a somewhat good cooler and a good motherboard, I would still take the quieter and cheaper solution over that.

The 9590 pretty much needs a $100 AiO cooler to run at decent temps, and for Overclocking a custom loop is required. The motherboard VRM heat sinks, etc, need to be VERY GOOD, meaning that it is a very expensive purchase over all.

That's almost cheap, but you need an expensive motherboard, watercooling and at least 2 fire extinguishers that have to be kept near the pc at all times

The i5-4460 is $5 less for the same gaming performance and you can put it in a $65 board with stock cooling fine.

ill buy it for 180 dollars  including a crosshair formula 4 gtx titan x's and and an ax`1500i and 32 gb of ram

Does its overclock really make that big of a difference? Given a stock 8320 performs like an i3 in games, I'm surprised this matches the i5.

I have the FX9590 OC'd at 5.19Ghz, running at 58c under load.

A few fps difference in games vs the i7 4770k. 

Who cares.

The FX-9590 is a little above a stock 2500k on average for minimum framerate in the gamegpu.ru benchmarks for 2014 releases, while decently behind a stock 4670k that turbos up to 3.6 GHz on all cores though. So the 3.2 GHz 4460 is probably still a little ahead of the FX-9590.

They used a 990FXA-GD80 vs a Big Bang-X Power motherboard... The GD80 has serious TDP support/throttling issues.

Thanks for the info. Do you know any sites with more trustworthy gaming benchmarks comparing the FX-9590 to other CPUs, hopefully using a board that can handle the CPU?

The stock i5-4690k should be about 3% faster than the stock i5-4670k because of the 100 MHz clock bump. Gamegpu doesn't do overclocked tests. The only time they use overclocked CPUs is when they use their golden 4.6 GHz i7-5960x for GPU benchmarks.
