AMD Catalyst 15.7.1 Drivers

You know I find it funny that unless there are game breaking bugs, no one gives a shut when nvidia drivers are released, but amd drivers constitute their own news story.

Yes I understand much of this is due to the way GeForce experience works but still... (That and nvidia updates like twice a week)

Isn't that a pretty big list of known issues? Also, they seem pretty easy to run into.

Not out of the ordinary for a driver update of either camp, really.

Right after i jumped to Windows 10, i encountered a devastating BSOD with the 'system exception thread not handled' error - graphical(?) driver faliure, before i even got to load up anything.

 

Computer failed to boot normally and i had to enter safe mode to find out what the f*ck was wrong.

Did a clean un-installation of the Win7/8.1 15.7.1 drivers, and >attempted< to install the Win10 version. Doing so gave me a 'failed to load detection driver' error. To my horror checking out device manager showed that i have no [detected] display component at all - not even the intel onboard chip, hence the failure to boot.

 

There was no real workaround so i did a fresh, full update of all chipset drivers for my Asrock motherboard hoping it will sort out the problem, i even tried physically reconnecting the components but nothing worked. In the end i couldn't even install the Win10 drivers because i apparently have no graphics component detected[Not quite sure why...], so i had no choice but to rollback to 7 since i couldn't even boot up Win10.

Lukiose When you tried to use the Intel iGPU, did you have the graphics card uninstalled and was the iGPU activated in the BIOS (I know it's called UEFI these days but old habits die hard)? If a dedicated graphics adapter is installed then the iGPU is disabled by default.

I've been having trouble installing the past few driver iterations. Install freezes, fails, etc. Really annoying. 

 

 

15.7 is working fine for me. I can't install 15.7.1 for some reason. It just freezes on "installing catalyst software" 

 

 

im just gonna wait this one out unless 15.7 causes trouble for me. Which it hasn't yet.

i cannot run 15.7.1 on windows 8.1 or 10 with crossfire enabled. the moment i enable it, i instantly get BSOD with the error THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER. im now back on 8.1 with 15.5 as the driver, this is my last stable config. 

 

anyone know why this is? why cant i use crossfire with these new drivers?

15.7 and 15.7.1 both break my multi monitor suport so I have to stay on 14.12 max to keep my 2 1280x1024 side moniors working : (
But I am on windows 10 so this sucks

didnt have a single problem with 15.7.1 .... right now runing on 15.8 beta... no problems aswell...
