Have Nvidia broken Kepler?

Looks like Nvidia may have made a boo-boo with their recent drivers and may have introduced a bug that drastically lowers kepler performance. Check out the attached benchmarks for the newly "optimised" driver for The Witcher 3 (this is with hairworks off).

 

The 780 Ti and 780 are curb stomped by the 970 and 960 respectively, even though they should be "faster".

 

People have already started complaining on the nvidia forums and personally I've reverted from 352.86 to 347.52 and I've seen a huge jump in performance.

And, of course, the conspiracy theories have already started that Nvidia are nerfing kepler performance so that people upgrade sooner.

I kinda thought like this when I saw those Witcher benchmarks, its probably just a "bug" and NVIDIA obviously is fixing it, or they are already digging, we will see :P

Yeah I had a wtf moment this morning when i saw the graph, as the 780ti is not very far off the performance of the 980, but it gets recked on that graph, and even in gta 5 the 780ti trials behind...

Looking at Nvidia's optimization/settings guide Im pretty sure the big performance gap is caused by the huge amount of tesselation if you up the settings.

According to Nvidia tesselation performance of Maxwell is up to 3 times faster.

Not really Nvidia's fault. I think that if you lower some specific settings (HairWorks) the chart (and the order of the cards) will change.

Yes, but did they also get some flack from amd customer about performance, and they said the same thing?

Hairworks was completely turned off on these benchmarks.
