Yes, but the priority of consumer-first would likely be a decision AMD would keep.  It makes sense if they suspect earning server sales will be difficult (which it will be, even if Zen is everything we all want it to be).  With GloFo claiming that their yields are better than expected, and us now having working silicon, we should get a hint about how things will be looking time-wise based on how many times we hear rumor of Zen being modified (these rumors tend to be accurate - not sure why).

its was going to kick intel if it was released 6 months ago but its gunna b leased in like 6 months cause amd doesnt have any budget to release stuff quickly

I'd like to think most of the forum hopes Zen does well, but doesn't necessarily expect it to.

They are great for the money, if you use them for there intended use, which is encoding, spreadsheet making, video editing, and other core-intensive tasks. not gaming.

AMD's CPU belong in 2011-2012. Simple. They need another Athlon 64/Phenom II to even start competing with Intel (selling the same damn CPU from 2011 with practically no improvements is not competing)..

Currently the PS4 and XBONE use AMD and it sounds like the next gen console's will as well. I agree that they lag behind Intel significantly however they still have a place and as long as they keep Sony and Microsoft on the table the are not going anywhere.

AMD makes good CPUs if you do not need much single-tread, in modern games the FX line does great to average so I am not gonna say they suck but the i5 is probably more reliable for 2012-2013 games while some 2014 games and most 2015 games will run great on FX!  (I mostly have VERY old(90s) games and VERY new games!)

The FX 6XXX and 8XXX are quite good for their price points, which is the only way they're able to compete with Intel at all... by undercutting them quite a bit.

 

If someone needs to build a PC on the cheap (in the $400-$700 range), I think AMD CPUs are sufficient for getting the job done.

 

Anything above that, or anyone wanting to do something more serious, I think spending more on Intel's offerings is more than logical.

Imo it is simply too expensive for Microsoft and Sony to use Intel CPUs in their consoles, and this is something that the customer will have to pay the extra for. If consoles were 100-150 bucks more due to the fact that they use an Intel processor and chipset, many people would be quite upset and think twice before getting one. 

 

From an economic perspective it is better to sell lots of something that is cheap and not that good in performance that something a lot more expensive and a bit better especially factoring in that the target audience doesn't understand FPS and resolution.
