Samsung 850 Pro 512GB or Samsung 850 EVO 1TB

I am thinking about getting a 512GB 850 Pro or 1TB 850 EVO, does the 850 EVO still have problems with it. Do you think I should get the 512GB Pro or buy the 1TB 850 EVO if money was not an issue.

...More storage is the only reason. 1TB is much better, allows for all programs, massive catalogue of games, etc. Pro is barely faster than EVO anyway.

I would take the 1TB EVO, more space, better price per GB and you wont notice the speed difference between it and the pro IRL.

Pro has double the warranty, double the Terabytes written and A LOT lower power consumption.

then why buy a M.2 or NVMe SSD, if you are going to buy it, just get the best consumer NVMe SSD

Now here's the catch, the SM951 uses AHCI, BUT in Sequential Writes/Reads, it will beat the 400GB 750 by a MILE.

Not sure about that, I would like more IOPS for games.

 

The Intel 750 has 400 less writes than the SM951 but it has 250 more reads than the SM951

Yeah, also there is a £100 price difference so if you was on a low budget the SM951 might be better for the performance.

Um, in Australia the SM951 512GB is 100 AUD more than the 750

It seems from most comments I have looked at, if a price is low, you know it will not be in AUD, it seems all hardware is expensive in AUD

But in even 5 years a current 1TB SSDs will not only be obsolete but really cheap too so the extra 5 year warranty is somewhat meaningless likewise the drive will be archaic by the time you use up the EVOs writes and the PRO only has about half the power consumption because it has half the flash but twice bugger all is still bugger all (a couple of watts). Basically there is no practical benefit to a PRO for the average person.

@Metro A SSD will have little affect on games beyond loading times (mostly sequential reads) because all the game assets are loaded into system and video memory, if you are hitting your SSD in a game performance is going to tank even if its the fastest SSD available.

1TB EVO. Although 512GB is still a lot of space. I can keep everything on my 840 Pro 512GB and I don't need an extra storage HDD. Plus I have space left over.

Why so many SSDs? I would be fine with one 1TB SSD.
