Microsoft selling Bing Maps, Advertising and reduce hardware business

Microsoft Corp. is stepping back from the advertising business in a big way. ... All of Microsoft’s roughly 1,200 advertising employees...will be getting offer letters to join AOL.

And executives have publicly said they plan more cost cuts in its hardware businesses.
 
Uber will acquire assets from Microsoft Bing. [it] is absorbing data-collection engineers from Microsoft to bolster its own mapping work.

Bing Maps was no use anyway

Google Maps will always rule

I dislike windows 10's search function because it is based on Bing. So far I don't know how to change it. I'm under the assumption for the preview builds we aren't allowed to change it. However, once its released I'm looking for alternatives to Bing.

Well AOL was just bought by Verizon, so they have a lot of money behind them. As of May they had 2.1 million dial-up customers.

no, think about this. They are stepping away from their CURRENT hardware business so they can focus on AMD hardware
