"Radeon R9 Fury X" interposer and PCB size revealed (render/picture)

Bouzoo

Time for facts. Finally (WCCFTech so I hope this is true). We knew it was gonna be a small card, but this is even smaller than I imagined with 19 cm in length. Well if nothing else it's gonna be good for mini ATX power houses (like the shoe Linus & Luke did). And that's a really huge chip (we already saw picture of that).

We know that the Fiji XT variant (at the very least) of the internally codenamed ‘Fury’ series will be watercooled. We also know that AMD is planning to release Fiji PRO powered graphic cards as well. If the internal nomenclature AMD is using right now makes it to the shelves then the full die will be called R9 Fury X while the cut die will be called R9 Fury. Both will have exactly 4GB of HBM memory. The card is powered by a 2x 8-pin connector but should have wattage less than 300 Watts.

The PCB of the graphic card is pretty small. Its actually just 19 cm in length. The reason for this is pretty simple, the power circuitry has been moved closer to the die. If you look at the first render you will notice that the chokes and capacitors of the power circuit are much closer to the die than usual. Usually there is a layer of GDDR5 memory in between, something that is completely absent here (obviously). However, while there is no memory layer, the interposer compensates by being pretty damn huge. It measures 55mm by 55mm for a total area of 30.5cm^2. The Fiji die itself should measure around 480-540mm^2 (reverse engineering it from the pictures). A single HDMI 2.0 and 3 DisplayPorts (1.2) are present. Given below is another render of the watercooled FijiXT based graphic card:

I want to see someone use a single slot block and cut off part of the I/O shield off for 4 one slot cards in crossfire.

Wait, DVI is gone?

its a old out date connector. The card should come with DP to DVI or HDMI adapters so their is no point in having one on the card. also freesync need DP so it has to have 3 to support 3 FS monitors.

since its has a small PCB it should be easy to make a 2 GPU one, maybe even a 3 or 4 GPU card.

mmm a tri GPU card, that would be fun too cool.

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

Makes the card more ascetically pleasing to the eye instead of the tubes coming out the side of the card. If you mounted the radiator in the front of your case the tubes would be harder to notice in windowed cases. Especially considering a lot of cases are covering the drive bays these days.

And it's basically just HDMI with VGA pins. There's no reason to keep it around, especially with it's big bulky connector.

I thought of the best idea; you can keep the shroud on, even with a custom loop. It has a badass shroud and has great cooling at the same time. Win-Win?
